Cardiff City's Victor Camarasa dream officially over as Crystal Palace player signs for new club
By Mathew Davies

The midfielder had endured a nightmare period at Selhurst Park

Victor Camarasa has signed for Deportivo Alaves - officially dashing any hopes Cardiff City fans had of the Spaniard returning to the club.

The former loan star, who impressed for the Bluebirds during their season in the Premier League last term, saw his season-long loan with Crystal Palace cut short and has since returned to his homeland.

The midfielder endured a nightmare time at Selhurst Park, playing just twice under manager Roy Hodgson.

There had been speculation linking the creative man with moves within the English pyramid, with Cardiff and Norwich City mentioned as possible destinations.

His parent club Real Betis have now loaned him to Alaves until the end of the season.

They wrote on their club website: "Real Betis Balompié and Crystal Palace have reached an agreement to terminate the loan of Víctor Camarasa to the club from London. At the same time, Real Betis and Deportivo Alavés have agreed for the loan of Camarasa to the Basque club until June of 2020.

"Real Betis wishes Camarasa all the best in this new loan."

Reputedly on £65/k at Palace. Doubt a mid table La Liga team can pay anywhere near that.

They must have a benefactor as they average only 16k this season, last season was less than 15k.

Can a club pay a player more than his contract is worth while on loan? Because no way was he on 65k at parent club!

This 65k suggestion was made some time ago on here,I couldn't believe it,as wasnt he on around 25/30k whilst he was here?,no wonder if true he chose palace over us :? But as mentioned above, how can a mid table side with small crowds afford that? Perhaps betis are paying a portion of it? At least it puts to bed the rumours of him signing for us to bed  :old: :bluebird:

Allan, as alluded to you last week, Victor Camarasa and his agent were spoken to with a view to bringing him back to the CCS for the remainder of this season but his wage demands of £38k per week and the associate costs/payments to Real Betis were deemed unacceptable by Cardiff City FC

As much as I'd like to have seen him here, I agree that figure is not one we should be paying right now :ayatollah:

Chris if on the reported 38k a week that's roughly 700k plus possible fee is that to much of a risk for a bit of quality we need in midfield? Anyway think we'll be lucky to see anyone of note here in this window as suspect 300k each would be to much for 3or4 players required.

Allan, I hate to say out but Victor Camarasa in this season's form could be viewed as a 'risk' for a team that are perilously close to what we might call 'a disappointing season'

We need to take in the additional 'costs' of any loan that might have occurred (payments to Real Betis, etc.) and the club themselves are still looking to bring in 'a number' of players before the month's end

Form I didn't realise had any as was never played was he? But yes to big a risk for us when we desperately need couple of players for defence and midfield! Then we may have chance to go up league to playoffs at end season b
