A forum for all things Cardiff City

“From Cardiff, having played for local club Maindy Corries and attended a Welsh speaking school in the Fairwater area of the capital, Cabango somehow ended up on the books of the Bluebirds' arch-rivals, via a spell with Newport County.” (Wales Online)
How did this happen?!
The failure of the local scouting system and the Academy over the last few years is really shocking.
We all recall with huge pride the emergence of Aaron Ramsey but since then? We let Semi Ajayi go and he’s currently top of the Championship with WBA. The few youngsters who have made it onto the bench let alone the pitch have not set the world alight here or elsewhere.
We’ve all watched our children or their friends or their Saturday or Sunday morning opponents disappear into the Development Squads or the Academy from as young as 9.,They lose their youth and the fun of playing yet never come close to a professional contract. What happens to them?
Do we really not produce as many talented future professionals as say Liverpool, Manchester or Newcastle?

Semi Ajayi did not come through our youth system, he was signed by us from Arsenal when he was 21. He had previously played for Charlton too. Mind you I agree he wasn't given a chance here with us under Slade.
