Positives and the short term

Sun Jan 12, 2020 6:44 pm

We looked far better today in defence with Nelson and Morrison very strong and secure. Bennett played his best game for a long while. We clearly tried to play more football and I thought Glatzel led the line well. I think Pack gets too much criticism by far although I feel he is too slow. It would help if he had a new midfield player in front of him who is attack conscious. At present we don’t shoot enough and despite Hoilett and White being hard workers neither of these 2 or Murphy can beat their full back, although I recognise the latter did it once today. Therefore do we really need to play 2 wingers? For the next league match v Birmingham I would like to see

Smithies

Peltier
Morrison
Nelson
Bennett

Pack
Bacuna

White
Tomlin
NEW ( Brooks of Stoke City)

Glatzel

Subs: Etheridge Richards Bamba Vaulks Patterson Hoilett Ward

When Ralls is fit I would bring him in for Pack.

I think we need to play 3 genuine CMs from the four we have at the expense of two wingers and get the width from the full backs.
Pack to sit a bit deeper but the whole team further up field. The front three very narrow

so for me

Jazz Mozza Nelson Bennett

Bacuna Pack Ralls

Tomlin Glatzel Murphy (but pretty narrow)
