Neil Harris: “ Neil Etheridge “

NEIL HARRIS:

Etheridge?

“ I won’t go into too much detail at the moment. There’s been a lot of talk around Neil, not just in this window but in the previous one as well. I had a really good conversation with Neil in the week about his standards and where he wants to get to. He wants to be settled and play football. To do that sometimes you need to be at your best. I made the decision to leave him out. He understands.”

“Alex and Joe Day want to play as well. It’s nice to have three goalkeepers that are talented, We’ll see what unfolds during the window.”

Keep day and release Murphy ?

Joe Day is awful and showed nothing whilst Murphy has always been reliable when called upon.
Murphy all day long as our number 2 for me with the youngster as back-up.

Joe Day will not be good enough as our second goalie.

Nice to have a keeper who talks and organised his defence: all the time today and last week he was telling them what was happening around him.
Two footed kicking and a good change not watching Etheridge counting his steps and pattern to get a ball off the ground.
So disappointing when you read about a player who has become distracted by transfer speculation; disrespectful and dishonest to those paying you. I remember Rangers fans saying Smithies was international level when he was their established number one.
I’d be surprised he went anywhere other than as cover. The games is dominated by statistics and last season in the Premiership he was in the bottom third on individual performances such as crosses and distribution and only average even on shot stopping.

So you would keep Murphy as no 2 ?

Catch up lads Murphy has already left the club, his contract run out on Dec 31 and he has also left his coaching role.
