JOE RALLS: WORKING UNDER NEIL HARRIS

Joe Ralls gives his view on playing under current Bluebirds manager Neil Harris

Harris has been in charge of the Bluebirds for the past two months after being appointed in November, and he has been able to turn Cardiff’s season around in a short space of time.

Speaking to Cardiff fan blog View From The Ninian, Ralls said: “There’s not been a dramatic change, really, just small changes.

“He’s brought fresh enthusiasm in to the changing room and the boys are excited to be working under him.

“We’re just hopeful that we can give it a good go and we’ve just got to aim as high up the table as possible.

“The Championship is a tough league, but we’re confident in the squad that we’ve got. There’s a real chance of breaking into the top six and that should be the aim for a club like ours.”

The 26-year-old was a pivotal performer in the Bluebirds midfield under Warnock, appearing just over 100 times under the veteran manager as he cemented his place within the club where he progressed through the under-18s setup.

Warnock was appointed manager of Cardiff in 2016 following the departure of Paul Trollope, and the experienced man at the helm turned the Bluebirds’ fortunes around.

He built an experienced squad with a small group of youngsters to help balance things out, but he was able to guide Cardiff back to the Premier League in 2018 as they finished second in the Championship.

He guided the club through a tough season in the Premier League, as they suffered the fate of relegation in May and after a tough start to the season, Warnock chose to resign in November 2019 following a 1-0 defeat at home to Bristol City.

The Verdict

Ralls was a key part of the setup after breaking through during the early stages of Warnock’s reign, and he went on to have a close relationship with the 71-year-old.

The 26-year-old always put his body on the line to help out his former manager, and he was a part of the group that Warnock trusted during his time at Cardiff.

Is it just me or does he contradict a lot of what Harris has been saying in the media in regards to changes

Perhaps I have misread it then or seen miss quotes, but I was under the impression Harris was claiming to be making big changes from top to bottom and starting with getting the players fittert do that with 'small' changes.

I was also told by someone inside the Club that Harris had shook things up completely.

Ralls comments of not been any dramatic changes paint a different picture to that,

Perhaps the fact he's been out injured he maybe hasn't seen how big the changed actually are, who knows?

“He’s brought fresh enthusiasm to the changing rooms”

It’s a pity they don’t show it in the first half of the games.
The opening parts of the games I’ve seen are quite pathetic and unenthusiastic.

the unfit remark attributed to him was out of context.. he also blames himself in the interview for pushing too hard during a busy schedule. and wasn't 100% sure the sports science backed up his thoughts on a drop in intensity during that game..
much has been made of it though...
