MAYBE TOO SIMPLISTIC BUT.......

What makes a good manager or even a great one ?

Forgetting man management for a moment, surely all managers should have an eye for a good footballer, aspire to get their team playing thrilling football and totally reject their team playing a turgid brand of football.

Or do they just want to accrue as many points as possible regardless of the quality of football played and thus safeguard their jobs ?

Perhaps there is only so much room in this world for one Klopp and Guardiola

It depends who you manage obviously.

People like Sir Alex and Brian Clough are the exception to that rule.

But the fact is Klopp and Guardiola have world class at their clubs, it makes it a lot easier to play a certain brand of football.

I'm not so sure either would do well at a club like Newport County.

Guardiola, in his career as manager, as spent €1,146,190,000. That's an average of over €22m per player.

Klopp, on the other hand, has spent £575,374,500. An average of nearly €8.5m per player.

Neil Harris has spent £3,393,000, an average of less than £850,000 per player.

Some interesting facts but I would bet good money that both Klopp (certainly) and Guardiola (most probably) would vastly improve the quality of football played by our team.

Most fans can see that our team is too static, with no movement off the ball so if we can see it, you can bet your bottom dollar that Messrs Klopp and Guardiola would also and have the nous to rectify the problem. Yes, even with the current batch of under-performers.

Maybe I would be better off asking whether NH is capable of rectifying the glaring shortfalls of his side and if not why not ? Or how good does a manager have to be in order to accomplish this ?

Assuming that all managers have their coaching badges, you would imagine that they possess a certain level of intelligence and are quite capable of implementing change when it's needed. Or as I said in the title of the thread, is this too simplistic ?

The only person this applies to is Jose.

Klopp literally just sent out a bunch of kids to play in the Merseyside Derby and beat Everton’s first team.

They only spend big money because there at the biggest clubs because of there ability to win they don’t win because they’ve spent big.

Klopp did very well with a small budget at Mainz in Germany not only getting them promoted but comftably establishing them in the top flight. You need to have a clear structure of how you want your team to play. This structure should be used not only in the first team but implemented throughout the club at all levels. How I long for a manager who actually presses from the front for once at this club.
