Poison Chalice

That's what the managers seat is at Cardiff whilst the current regime are in charge, even if Harris gets the boot, no-one worthwhile will want the job anyway, not while Tan the Man is overlord.

Rubbish

Re: Poison Chalice

Yeah nobody would want a job at one of the biggest clubs in the championship playing in a 35k stadium.
Run by a owner who has massively backed his managers and spent around £80 million on the last manager in under 3 years.

That wont appeal to anybody

A stupid and not thought out post. City are in the middle of a tough time but will soon emerge out of it imo :bluebird:

According to some on here nobody other than Harris were interested in the job when it became available.

Perhaps the OP should have said that whilst Tan is involved it is unlikely that anybody decent is going to be appointed.

When a job the size of Cardiff becomes available the club would recieve hundreds of applications from all over the world . Most are just hopefuls and have no chance but I would bet a fortune bigger/Better managers than Harris applied.

And as it was stated on the Jim White Show on the day after Warnock left the club that they had heard it was a done deal with Harris, I would bet a fortune that if any bigger/better managers had applied they were never seriously considered by the club.

Errm I wasn't looking for any reaction - I was merely stating my opinion that it's not an attractive prospect for any decent name manager to come to whilst the current regime of Tan Choo and Dalman reign supreme in terms of transfer policy. I respect others opinions as long as they can produce a cogent and coherent counter argument, unlike you and other respondents who simply automatically gainsay my comments.

May have been done deal but I would be astonished if there wasn't a couple of decent managers interested? But as been well said tan reluctant to support a manager with expensive tastes in signings, so Harris only one to fit tans economic strategy for time being. :old:

he hasn't massively backed our managers for a while now..
it is what it is and im not complaining but to suggest the summer window spend was in any way massively backing is wrong... we more or less spent the money from 2 sales to cover 7 players.. and its not like the sales were for huge money to big clubs either they were to clubs in our league.

Really ?

Look at the last summer window

Flint £6mill
Glatzel £6mill
Vaulks £2.5mill
Whyte £1.5mill
Vassell £1.5mill
Pack £2mill

They are the reported fees maybe slightly out but either way was still over £15million in the championship. Most clubs in this league would give there right arm to spend that money.

The year before was £50million plus

The year before that was £10million plus

The last time we didnt spend was before Warnock when we were in transition.

yes and we sold reid and zohore. youll say the reid money isn't paid but neither is half the money of your list. its not enough mate...the year before only gets anywhere near 50 if you include Sala who A never played and B we will not have an insurance payment to re spend and C could well have been to little to late anyway..
im not complaining... and it could be a damn sight worse.. but you cant be going up as short of quality as we were buy a few 2nd tier players and bring in loanees. then lose a big chunk of the 1st team and spend less on the squad than 2 championship teams have spent on reid and zohore combined..
it doesn't make sense..
