About Swansea City

Swansea City Association Football Club is a Welsh professional football club based in Swansea, Wales that plays in the Championship, the second tier of English football. The club was founded in 1912 as Swansea Town and joined the Football League in 1921. The club changed their name in 1969, when they adopted the name Swansea City to reflect Swansea's new status as a city. Swansea have played their home matches at the Liberty Stadium since 2005, having previously played at the Vetch Field since the club was founded.

In 1981, the club was promoted to the original Football League First Division. It was during the following season they came close to winning the league title, but a decline then set in near the season's end, before they finished sixth, still a club record. It was from here the club suffered a relegation the season after, returning to the Football League Fourth Division a few seasons later, and then narrowly avoided relegation to the Football Conference in 2003. The Swansea City Supporters Society Ltd owns 20% of the club, with their involvement hailed by Supporters Direct as "the most high profile example of the involvement of a supporters' trust in the direct running of a club". The club's subsequent climb from the fourth division of English football to the top division is chronicled in the 2014 film, Jack to a King – The Swansea Story.

In 2011, Swansea were promoted to the Premier League. On 24 February 2013, Swansea beat Bradford City 5–0 to win the 2012–13 Football League Cup (the competition's highest ever winning margin for the final), winning the first major trophy in the club's history and qualifying for the 2013–14 UEFA Europa League, where they reached the Last 32 stage but lost over two legs to Napoli. Swansea is the only team from outside England to have won the Football League Cup with that win. Swansea were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2017–18 season.

Previous Meeting

We last played Swansea in October and lost 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium. Ben Wilmot scored the only goal of the match.

A bit like the players.

Two out of form sides but I'm going with a City win because we will have the mentality on the day and will battle it out against our bitter small time rivals :bluebird:

Cardiff 1-1 Swansea. Can see us doing everything to not lose the game and have the first double done on us in a must not lose game, and I think Swansea would be reasonably happy with a point. For that reason I think it will be a draw. Probably wrong though

Good point. Maybe Harris can “ask for a little more” before the game rather than at half time?

If fans think security is ott for this game wait until we play usa at ccs end March?
Anyway go for 2-1 city :occasion5:

The sensible prediction would probably be a score draw. Unfortunately, I think an away win is the likely outcome, going for 2-0 Swansea.

Just can not see us beating them unfortunately and they’re not even that good. It will need a good 90 minute performance and we haven’t had one of them all season

I stuck up for you in another thread, and I don't think we will do them either, but against sheff we were decent, to say we have not had one good performance this season is silly. The more you post the more I think you're just another boring roathie multi

Haha god forbid we switch off for even a minute, I'm all for realism but we have to remain somewhat optimistic, just think its another way for a certain someone to peddle negative views unnoticed

Out of form?

We have picked up 10 points from a possible 15 in our last 5 games.

That’s automatic promotion/champions form - 92pts.

or 12 points from the last 30
depends where you draw the line of how many games you include..

at least that's what that welsh casual has said , oh just noticed, you are welsh casual, you must have forgot..?

Would you like to use the whole quote instead of selectively cutting and pasting it to represent something it clearly didn’t say?

What I said was, you cannot chop parts of the season up to suit (this was in response to, maybe even you, saying that if it wasn’t for our start we would be mid table). I went on to say that if you are going to chop a part of the season to represent form then the more recent the chop the better.

Happy to use the whole season of you like, it puts us as the 6th best form team in the league. :thumbright:

Exact quote below:-

welshcasual wrote:You cannot selectively choose runs of form and isolate them as to how you want us to be described. If you are to look at form in a way it has relevance then recent form is more telling, of which we have picked up 10 points from a possible 15 in our last matches

Does any swans fan believe they will get 92 points or automatic promotion ? I know we play crap but only 4 points separate us ! has gap been any larger than that all season?

Of course not, but that isn’t what I said or what I was suggesting.

My point was to show our current form, not to predict our future form. The 92 points was to show that our form over the past 5 matches is exceptional, and using it as a tool to easier understand it. So the claim we are “out of form” is wildly incorrect.

According to Sky and their form table, we are the 5th best team in the league in current form (6 matches is their criteria). Cardiff are 20th.
