‘ HOPEFULLY NEIL HARRIS CAN SUCCEED WITH THEM ‘

Tue Dec 31, 2019 6:46 pm

Neil Harris was working with the cream of the academy yesterday. He had the fringe players and some of the young players that he believes will soon be knocking and the door, training and working together at the Vale. This was the morning after an away game at Sheffield Wednesday.

Harris has been told from day one there is NO money so you will have to sell or bring players through.

Hopefully Harris will Be the first Manager Under Tan in 10 years to bring youngsters through and properly establish themselves in the first team :thumbright: :bluebird:

if there is a good crop of youngsters coming through now then the club need to be patted on the back for the investment over the last 10 years in them coz training these players does not happen over night it's over a long period of time and let's hope they are good enough finally, on another note looks like swansea have scrapped there development academy and are going to sell there academy land too the Jack's fans are going nutts on there boards and on today's wales on line article, they are in deep financial trouble

Good to hear him working with them, especially after a big win in an away game.

Hopefully he can make it work.

I expect he'll try a few of them against Carlisle with the hope of getting them more involved.

I am trying to think of the last player that has come through all the ranks of the academy and then played for the first team - is it Aaron Ramsey or have I missed someone after him ?

Declan John came through after Ramsey. Joe Ralls did as well but we pinched him from some lower divisions club youth set up. There are one or two more who played the odd game here and there mainly in the cup but not even many of them. Overall the performance of the youth set up in providing players for the first team has been abysmal. Just by the law of averages there should be one or two ready to come through but I will believe it when I see it. All the players who were talked about as our best youth team players never made it. Tommy O Sullivan now struggling to get into a poor Hereford side. Mark Harris nothing special for a poor Wrexham team.Truly dreadful really. Rather bizarrely there are thee ex Cardiff youth team players in the Charlton squad.

I'm not sure about the financial position, as I don't think it's ever really been stated in public throughout Tan's reign; but any upscaling of the Academy and a route to the First Team for the best in there can only be a good thing for Cardiff City FC going forward :thumbright:

Thanks could not think of John but had a feeling there was one more - never really rated John and we kept giving him chances at a couple of positions - it felt we were trying to accommodate him!

Agreed there have been many players leave from the academy when people on here have gone into meltdown but no one has really made it.

There are the odd few we released and have worked there way back up but were not good enough at the time but that you account for
