Rhian Brewster

Mon Dec 30, 2019 2:34 pm

Promising England striker signs for Swansea on loan from Liverpool for the rest of the season.

Klopp really rates him and says he's the next big thing up front.

The type of player I thought maybe Harris would go for.

I guess we need rid of a few players first which is easier said than done. Wouldnt bother me if Medine, Bogle and Vassell all left but whose going to want them.

I see ‘in talks’. Is it confirmed?
Could be bye bye Ayew

Why are they signing a player that they cant pay for ?

They are broke and going to the next level

No way would liverpool loan him to us...

A) style of play complete opposite to what a liverpool would require as part of his development
B) Nathaniel Clyne-gate

I dont think he will be, he looks a quality young player and should have a decent impact. Good signing for them

Well aye, it wasn’t just a wild stab in the dark Al

And yes, that’s my point. Although you make it sound like park football, where he was in the area so turned up at training.
They club decided (not the player decided, but the club) to sign a player on loan that they had no hope of being able to sign permanently. That’s football

We certainly did but we have an owner that let's us live within our means and doesn't take money from the club, and before you claim the yanks cant do it, answer me one question, where has all your money gone ?

Well they don't as its illegal.

The obvious response to that question is, what money?

The parachute money you've had, the £35M for James and no socks Mcburnie. Read planet swamp as they are all asking the question. Its comedy gold I tell you :occasion5:

They don't have any money same as their council 18m shortfall! perhaps council should ask club to pay more than the peanuts they are paying council at moment for leasing ground? :laughing6:

It doesn't matter who is asking it really, the answer remains the same.

Parachute payments are there to cover a drop in revenue upon relegation. We went from income around the 105m mark to about 18m. Parachute payments would bump that up to around 60m leaving a 45m per year black hole.

James and McBurnie were sold but sales are amortised, meaning thy payments are spread across a period of time, meaning you dont get 35m up front. So far we have probably had a third of both fees - 12m lets say. Leaving a 33m black hole. This was reduced further by getting rid of salaries etc for the likes of Fer, J Ayew, Narsingh, Bony and Olsson which all in all (including some others) we expected trimmed another 24m of the salary bill. We also added about 1m worth of players in transfer fees, signing on fees and agents fees leaving a 10m loss roughly for the year. Almost certainly some form of loss and no profit at all.

Parachute payments are reduced by around 8m in the second season, yet we carry the costs over from the season before. Its likely we will need to sell another 1 or 2 before being able to break even (that's with the parachute payments).

Without the parachute payments we will need to restructure further, making cuts to the academy status etc to enable us to live self sufficiently.

Anyone who thinks there is any money to take is living in cloud cuckoo land. To be blunt. Hope that answers your question.
