Glatzel

Better service to him today and even when he was leading the line he managed to control on chest and bring others into play. Top performance from him today and I think he and Tomlin have a partnership forming quietly.

Well lets hope so.

I've not heard much good talk about him. However 2 goals from the last 4 games could be considered something of a start for him even though those goals look more like Sunday pub match standard. After an aweful start he has some way to prove himself to us. Let's hope this is the start of that.

Glatzel is a footballer and will get better the more he plays imo

1 goal won’t silence the doubters. He needs to show a lot more than what we have seen and I include yesterday although clearly he played much better.

Re: Glatzel

Mon Dec 30, 2019 12:55 pm

Yesterday was by far his best performance in a city shirt. Still not sure he has what it takes to be a lead striker at this level.

Re: Glatzel

Seems to play better away. More chance of breakaways and more space. We need a different approach at home for him to shine.

Re: Glatzel

He played well just needs more consistency in his game

Re: Glatzel

Mon Dec 30, 2019 1:34 pm

He also needs players around him that will give him the ball to feet instead of lumping up in the air in his general direction.

No doubt he does need to improve his hold up play on the floor but he can certainly play, and his control and flick to release Tomlin for the second goal was just as impressive as his goal.

Many foreign strikers have initially struggled at Championship level because it is so physical but I still think he has the ability to do well for us, if he can get 12-15 goals this season I reckon we could be in with a shot at the play-offs afterall.

Scored as many in the last 4 games as Zohore has scored in the last 18 months. Like you say, it's a start and we could do with someone who can knock them in on a regular basis. Hopefully, this will give him the confidence to push on. Time will tell.

If they go over the line they are goals, regardless of ‘standard’.

I get the feeling some people want him to fail.

I haven't seen all the games but other than one where I thought he was poor I think he has done OK. Gets himself about and decent with it into feet. Can see him and Tomlin linking up well. He has things to improve on and no doubt he initially had confidence issues but I've got my fingers crossed for him.

Yeah but Zohore was playing in the premier league with a struggling side.

Not really comparable isit.

Yeah it’s the same one mate.

They probably think he’s useless.

Don’t mean anything on the comparison about him and Glatzel.

True. Got a feeling if we get decent service to him into the box he will be one of those awkward players who will score a fair few scrappy goals. They all count.

Yes agree.
Seems to have a powerful shot too. I remember the one v Millwall and one earlier in season at Reading.

Only one season in the prem, struggled in the championship the year before, the comparison I think is that Glatzel has equaled Zohore's goal tally, after one half of this season, and to be fair, strikers are judged on goals ,he was struggling at first as his family were still in Germany, then got injured, personally I can see a sweet partnership with tomlin (injury to either permitted) all about opinions I guess  :old: :bluebird:

Glatzel has done nowhere near what Zohore contributed to our club so far so stop trying to compare it’s ridiculous.

It's called opinion isn't it? I have to concede on the "so far" bit,but as a strikers job is to score goals, the comparison in my opinion is relevant, apart from one good spell in first promotion, goal wise after is 2 seasons,4 goals, which is what Glatzel has scored in less than half a season (was out a while remember) if the unlikely should happen, and we got promoted through the back door so to speak, and IF he has scored 10 or more goals he will have equalled Zohore's best season,in his first one here, all possible,as lots of games to get 6 more, all whilst playing for a shite championship side, where zohore got his best tally, with a side playing crap football,I stand by my post when he was sold,we got good money for an average Championship player.WBA fans don't rate him,and reckon we robbed em!! :old: :bluebird:

Yes the final flick was but Glatzel controlled a difficult ball well under pressure and took a couple of touches before laying it off with a flick nicely to Jazz. Jazz's ball was lovely but it was made easier by the lay off he had.
