A BIG AWAY WIN AFTER TWO DRAWS AT HOME
Neil Harris made one change from the draw with Millwall, as Jazz Richards replaced the injured Lee Peltier.
Etheridge, Richards, Flint, Nelson, Bennett, Pack, Bacuna, Hoilett, Mendez-Laing, Tomlin, Glatzel
Sheffield Wednesday had an early attempt that didn't trouble Neil Etheridge
GOAL: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 0-1 CARDIFF CITY - The Bluebirds took the lead in the 4th minute with Robert Glatzel getting the goal
GOAL: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 0-2 CARDIFF CITY - Just three minutes later, we doubled our lead with Junior Hoilett scoring. Great play by Richards, Tomlin and Glatzel in the build up
Jazz Richards made a brilliant block to stop a certain goal in the 12th minute
The match started to settle down after that frantic start with the home team having most of the ball
GOAL: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 1-2 CARDIFF CITY - Tom Lees headed home from a corner in the 17th minute to half the deficit.
Sheffield Wednesday continued to have most of the ball but neither goalkeeper had any meaningful saves to make since the game's third goal
Joe Bennett was stretchered off in the 35th minute and replaced by Will Vaulks
City picked up another first half injury in the first half, so Sol Bamba replaced Nathaniel Mendez-Laing in the 42nd minute
HALF TIME: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 1-2 CARDIFF CITY

Nice one, Ned. I was going to do this in the absence of Annis, too!![]()
My initial headline today was going to be "Battling City keep BarryWelsh88 quiet..!" but this performance by City was better than that...
An explosive and opening opening saw the Bluebirds take a deserved 2-0 lead with goals from the much-aligned Robert Glatzel and Junior Hoillet with Lee Tomlin providing the service for both
Sheffield Wednesday were gifted their equaliser with a training ground goal from some poor City defending and the pressure began to build as City went a little into their usual style of play; but having said that, we were still providing ourselves with chances and on those alone I felt we were as good as Sheffield Wednesday at that point
HT: Sheffield Weds 1 - 2 Cardiff City
The second half we certainly had to defend and battled well to repel the constant Wednesday attacks whilst creating some good attacks and chances ourselves
Sheffield Wednesday huffed and puffed but couldn't quite blow the house down, as City players stayed strong and resolute in their resolve to take the maximum from the game
What I would call a superb team effort that quelled the doubters and a win that was richly deserved in the end
FT: Sheffield Weds 1 - 2 Cardiff City

I think peoples worry about Bamba was justified. Sustaining a injury as serious as he did at his age normally means retirement or playing at a much lower level. IF he can get back to the level he was before then he would have done amazingly well. Let's hope he has.

We gave him a 1 year contract extension last week so knew he will have a part to play

I thought they said it was given some time ago when Warnock was here.
