Sky initially said he was given offside for coming back from offside position.. now saying his shoulder was offside even though he's a foot behind defender..... and earlier game it was an elbow offside! :o

Who's wearing what? Var is supposed to correct errors kane goes down again after defender went past him on floor but kane keeps going and amazingly falls to ground holding his legs? Hes a cheat but there again its common now for players to deliberately go into defender or goalie to get pen ! Var is supposed to see this but it's a bit blind because it's not offside? for offside got vision better than Hubble mirror in space. :laughing6:

is the knee really the furthest point..id say his finger nails myself...but what stupidity pretending you can be that accurate to begin with..

stupid idea pushed by stupid people that think a bloke in a box 100 miles away is technology.

It's his shoulder that they deemed offside! Tbh they should not have drew lines and used their eyes instead and none would said he was offside... chris houghton tried to say it was offside and basically var was correct in what it does and how it made decision.. :o

Shouldn't have been disallowed, but its irrelevant where his feet are if a art of the body he can legally score with is offside.

On this occasion however his shoulder seems inline. Anything within 6 inches of the refs decision should be invalid to overturn as it isnt clear and obvious.

VAR was brought in to overturn horrendous decisions, not micro manage the game.

Like the var elbow offside in earlier game cannot score with elbow as its classed as handball but that was given as offside...

im talking about the defenders knee which is the point of offside Allan..

Re: " VAR - all time low? "

So the attacker now needs to be behind the last defender to be deemed onside?

Ahh right but think point is that looking at picture it clearly shows pukki well behind defender only looking through microscope can they say its offside. And then they cannot possibly be 100% positive shoulder is offside! If that's case they cannot give it but var obviously think they are perfect and never wrong ? They are bringing game into disrepute by their actions and need to do something to correct the obvious errors that's happening.. by any strentch of anyones imagination he would be at worse inline with defender and that is onside.

Well looking at the picture pukki is well behind defender but still they deemed it to be offside by var looking through enormous magnifying glass...

There should be fan protests. You can't score with your elbow anyway. As has been stated, VAR was introduced to stop clear errors not to adjudicate over cms. It is turning into a total farce.

At least 4 goals disallowed by var for offside today have been by millimetres at most! And that as effected the result no doubt about that... need to have whoever is in charge with var to explain how they can 100% say they were offside ? Because anything less cannot be given as offside surely? anyway at worst they are in line with last defender so that is onside according to the rules.. :old:

Re: " VAR - all time low? "

VAR offside decisions are consistent BUT are killing the game with the delay whilst they check umpteen times and then rule a players’ armpit is a millimetre offside which is NOT the reason why VAR was brought in!

Surely the check should be to see if a clear or obvious error has been made, not to overrule the officials on the pitch decisions with marginal decisions that can’t prove if the attacker is offside at the time the ball is passed
In the spirit of the game, moments like Pukki’s is level and the goal stands as far as I am concerned

I think if it could be proved that the guy is offside at the exact time of release it would be acceptable..
but the margins of error are simply to big. those calls are physically impossible

Bit like hursts goal in 66? Took modern scientific way 30 odd years later to prove it went in? Drawing a Line is not scientific proof player is offside maybe in 10yrs or so could be dead accurate but collating when ball is kicked to where player was is impossible to say using a line on screen.. :o

yes like 1966..but if they cant do it for 10 years, introduce it in 10 years time.
using the fps video VAR use at the moment a player can be onside in one frame and offside in the next frame with the ball release { even if you can accurately determine this } somewhere in the middle... at full tilt the receiving player can move about 15 cm.. add to that about 1 cm per 1/1000th of a second you might be wrong on ball release. and the VAR blokes having to insert a line from the part of the defending players nearest his own goal accurately. and its just not possible..
I suppose the big picture is you will win some lose others but id prefer to see the extra goals without the breaks..

Really don't know why they just couldn't go with a player's feet !!!! Not any other part. Simples !!!

Re: " VAR - all time low? "

For me the words “seeking to gain an advantage” are the most apt words

Offside or not how can any striker be seeking to gain an advantage by being 2mm in front of the defender!

Scrap it and go back to old ways. When the ref gets it wrong/right it’s part of the game. Not good when your on the wrong decision but tough shit. Killing the game with this shit.

Re: " VAR - all time low? "

Sun Dec 29, 2019 10:47 am

It needs to be used at the behest of one of the teams. The captain or manager can call for it three times during a game. If correct then they keep their review. Extra would be serious foul play that might be missed.

That would stop the absolute clangers like Chelsea’s offside goal v us. If we had used our three up then on our head be it.

Currently, as the song goes, it’s not football.

or just bin it. 6 VAR stops a game and maybe goals , pens not given because teams have run out of claims... that's got to be worse ?

Thats been my view all along it will stop 99.9999% of these ludicrous decisions? Must have been at least 4 that were 2mm judged offside by yesterday ... have it as a foot must be fully behond last player simples
