Ffs Brighton goal disallowed because elbow joint in offside position (literally) this as got to stop its bringing game into disrepute... the rule says standing in offside position he wasn't standing offside his elbow was! :laughing6:

I said from the start it would ruin football and it has.

Goal line tech is perfect
VAR is awful.

The concept is good but the execution is poor

They need to keep it to a single screen on the side of the pitch which the referee can use if he chooses for big decisions. Other than that football should be left alone. Maybe giving the managers 2 challenges a game to the referee might be a better option. If they dont challenge it then it's on the manager not the ref

quite simply its now the VAR fellas OPINION instead of the refs OPINION...

Yep! And I feel for the guy who just had his first ever goal ruled out!

As the commentator said, who actually knows when the ball technically left the foot. It's currently open to question

Just do not understand how it was offside when the law state standing in offside position that means feet not arm pit or elbow Law has not changed !.... says look at it next season simple thing is do it now change criteria to offside if one foot is behond last player will make things easier and garauntee wont have a problem in 99.99999% of reviews.. but var will slowly creep into all decisions just like tmo as done in rugby that started as only try line incidents now it goes back two moves or more and 2mins in time looking at forward pass knockons ect ect

Re: VAR PATHETIC!

And it took another VAR 90 secs stoppage to come to the conclusion that a supposed handball was accidental, the ball bouncing up off a player's thigh. If an official can't come to that instant conclusion during real time then we'd all better pack up.

VAR is ruining football.

And that’s the crux of the problem Chris .... it’s when the ball leaves the foot of the guy passing the ball.

You can see if the players finger is offside in a millisecond but they can’t tell the exact millisecond it leaves the other players foot so it’s not accurate.

I was for VAR before it was implemented because I thought it would work and be fair.

Now I’m completely against it.
Unfortunately, I think it is here to stay with it coming down to the championship eventually Most likely.

ive been saying about the ball release from day 1..
at full tilt the runner is moving at 1cm per 1 thousandth of a second. and they are making calls that are that tight ?
NASA would require more time and more camera angles and still not be 100% certain on the exact ball release..

I was always under the impression you can only be offside with a part of your body that can play the ball.
He cant play the ball with his hand or arm so how is it a advantage if that body part is in front of the other player.it will end up with lines on the pitch and microchips in players boots

the microchips is absolutely the only way for the release to be accurate.... at the moment there are people making these calls which are anything but clear and obvious by guessing ..

Boots with 'sensors' will be next! ;)

If they can do it for goal lines, I'm sure technology can do it for that!

Yesterday man c pen now that did help ref but took far to long to decide? Ffs it was obvious from 1st review player stood on players foot now that is either a pen or not var wasnt looking for anything else But it took several minutes for var guy to give pen .... :old:

Cant see how you can give offside for an elbow, thought it was only a part of the body you can score with, so surly hand elbow ect woudnt count

this is what UEFAs president said about VAR.
I don't understand why there should be a rule change though when just a bit of common sense would do..

Now getting a effing joke? Pukki is a foot behind defender but var says he came from offside position before ball is played! How can you be offside position before ball is played? That is stupid and wrong...

Leave it up to the manager to contest a decision. If they feel a decision needs reviewing then the referee can come over to a screen and decide. Give them a certain number each game and it's up to them to decide which they want to contest. That will allow the referee to get on with the game

Why are they waiting for next season to review how they determine offside? Can find simple way now! But did here they'll use a measurement to determine offside but that wont change anything as 2mm of elbow be same as 10mm for offside.... it shouldn't be any part of upper body it should be about the feet as its always been. :old:

The diagrammatic analysis of the Pukki decision was flawed in my opinion. They were both leaning fairly heavily towards goal but they drew the vertical lines up to Pukki's shoulder and up to the defenders knee. His upper body was well forward of his knee and probably playing Pukki onside.

By all intensive purposes pukki was onside it was only var using a microscope to determine that his collarbone was possibly offside but no way in a million years that they can 100% say it was offside? That makes the decision wrong in principle
