“ NEIL HARRIS INSISTS “

Sat Dec 28, 2019 9:58 am

Neil Harris is adamant and insists his philosophy will soon bring success to the Welsh capital.

No win in his last four outings, but Harris insists he has the squad and his way will come through.

NEIL HARRIS:

"I'm myself, Neil Warnock was different, Gary Rowett will be different to me at Millwall," he said after the draw with Millwall. "Different philosophies, different mentalities.

"Mine is building a culture and environment that's driven to succeed through work ethic, discipline and all that doesn't come overnight.

"It comes at a cost, picking up injuries along the way, but it does change and it is successful.”

"While I'm doing that, we have to pick results up. I'm very conscious of that. But we are also in a tough run of fixtures which means I can't push the players on the training pitch.”

"What I do know is that the players are running further and passing the ball more, there are some very good players here, it just takes time."

The matches get no easier, however, with tough visits to Sheffield Wednesday and Queens Park Rangers in the coming week and the South Wales derby also looming in the not-so-distant future.

Because of the constant Sunday-Tuesday turnaround of the Championship, there will be little time on the training ground for Harris to stamp his mark further on this squad and really get them playing how he wants them to.

But while some supporters will have grown frustrated over the last couple of fixtures, given the dearth of clear-cut opportunities the Bluebirds have created in attack, it is clear Harris also shares that frustration.

"Eight games, three wins and four draws - I'd like to have another win in there if I'm honest," he said.

"It's about the players delivering what I want and there's no quick fix. We've had the majority of the ball against Millwall which hasn't been normal for the lads.

"It's just getting used to having the football again and finding a new way to play and finding certain standards. We've got to get up to those standards as quickly as possible.

"It's taking a little longer than I'd hoped, but you just keep going.”

Of course, this is not his squad and these are not the players he signed. Perhaps we won't be able to made a sound enough judgement until after two transfer windows and his own players have been brought in.

But this is certainly a talented squad that has taken some good money to assemble and the core of it is likely to remain for quite some time.

So, just how far away are this current crop to where Harris wants them to be?

"There's a long way to go," he said, "I've got to be honest.

"You're set in a way and you try to change that. You change and change, then you revert back to type, because they've been well drilled and well trained.

"You've got to be repetitive with it, be relentless with it, create more chances, score more goals and win more games."

The games dont come much easier in this league than the ones he has had since he has arrived , six of the first 10 games against teams in the bottom half. 3 of those were in the bottom 3 at the time.

Charlton
Stoke
Barnsley
Millwall
QPR
Forest

Leeds away and Preston were tough at the time but the others we would have been favourites to win.
There are a lot harder games and runs to come than the ones he has had so far

HE SAID THE RUN OF GAMES WE ARE IN
THAT INCLUDES UPCOMING THIS WEEK
I BASED IT OVER HIS FIRST 10 GAMES IN WHICH HE WILL PLAY QPR
EVERYONE HAS BEEN ABOVE US AT SOME POINT EARLY SEASON THATS HOW IT WORKS, NOW WE ARE STARTING TO SEE THE REAL TABLE POSITIONS

and if your going to make a point with AT THE TIME...at the time becomes the criteria not just the bits you fancy it covering..

Blah blah blah
Twist it whatever way you like
His first 10 games are not overly difficult like he is making out they are relatively easy for this league. Just a fact !!

Harris said we ARE in a run of hard games.
That means they are still coming otherwise he would have said we HAD a run of hard games.

That is why I included it up until his 10th game to the end of this year. I'm right.

What has happened to make you think we’re favourites against any team. I haven’t seen any evidence other than we’re a bang average side.

Not at all I'm wrong sometimes. What I said is correct in my opinion , what I said is wrong in yours. Get over it people are allowed to have differing opinions its life. I have said nothing which is incorrect. I have stated my opinion on his first 10 games which is factual and correct.

The fact we have just come down from the premier league after spending a huge amount of money and adding to it this season with another 10+ million should make us favourites against most teams in this division
