Most resorts use chemicals every evening so as for them to do their job,and dissappear before the morning, when guests start to use the pool.most places have strict guidelines, with warnings in place telling guests no use of pool during certain hours, admittedly not all hotels are up to standard with this danger.not saying the resort in spain were wrong of course.very sad christmas for his wife indeed,so tragic, made worse as it was christmas eve :sad7: bless them. :old: :bluebird:

I’ve actually stayed in that resort twice. It’s a fantastic resort, but the one thing that used to annoy us was how strict the lifeguards were there. They watched everyone like a hawk and were really on the ball with anything. So it’s a massive shock to see what happened there. Surely if that Chlorine blast is such a regular occurrence, there would have been fatalities before this?
RIP to the members of that family.

Surely the chlorine would go in last thing at night when it’s dark and no one in the pool? Like most resorts? Very strange

If picture of pool is correct it is quite a small one not big enough to cause 3 people to drawn Easy to get to side very odd situation.

Apparently only the family were at the pool and because of size pool no lifeguard was required, but they are there in summer period.. this'll end up authorities saying what happened but mother and others disputing events :|

police saying its just a tragic accident caused by lack of swimming ability ..
3 deaths in that tiny pool. really doesnt seem to be a thorough investigation to me.

You are right it is deadly ..... just a whiff of the gas and your chest tightens up and can't expand when you take a breath and people would find it very frightening ..... I know, having worked on a Chlorine plant in BP. Baglan Bay Works for nearly 10 years up until 1981 ..... I have known people to panic and just drop to the floor when having a whiff of the Chlorine Gas when a leak has occurred from some pipework ..... Something not right about the police statement that it was just a tragic accident

Yes, these gases are can be lethal. Was on a plant where the fitter was doing a valve change, but opened the live line by mistake, and nearly collapsed but just managed to tighten it back up. Should have monitors in plant rooms now, but they should carry out RA.

I've got a swimming pool and I opened up a Chlorine tub in the summer had a big blast of vapour and instantly felt rough and light headed , if they had a bigger blast then I think they could of easily been disorientated and drowned
