Paterson

Not sure what his position is now in Harris’s eyes now that Warnock has left. However, do you believe he can do a good job for us as a centre forward in the same way he has done in the past? He is certainly strong and excellent in the air and very capable of holding the ball up. He is also fearless, will run his socks off and would give his all for the shirt. Your opinions?

I think Patterson would be better as a right midfielder rather than a centre forward

Hes not good in air he jumps and harrasses defenders that's it! Cannot hold ball up or play as lone striker? NW has stubborn thing about playing him when he brought in strikers and ot didn't work then wont now he's a defender/midfielder .. if you think it's bad now with him upfront only way will be is down.

Probably the worst striker I've ever seen.

I think he is more suited to league 1 where he would probably shine as a striker or midfielder. Hes a good all round squad player as he can fit in temporarily in a few positions but hes just not good enough in any single position to make it his own permanently in the championship.
That being said he signed as a right back where he played for Hearts and Scotland. We have not seen him play that position so maybe try him

He doesn't have any striker qualities . Hes a right back or utility player if required but not a striker.. :old:

I remenber seeing comments from Shearer and Danny Murphy praising Paterson when we played Fulham in the home game in the premership and saying he lead the line well. Also the way he held off the Southampton defender to score another vital goal, in the premership was brilliant. I take all the nonsense he is not a striker, cannot head or hold up play as laughable.

well he doesn't look the same player since his injury... otherwise id agree , he has caused some pretty good defenders problems which its what its all about..

I know what you are saying, but he has not been given a chance. I ( although the player also needs to take responsibility for his fitness and career) If Warnock agreed to buy Madine and Glatzel then he did not have clue. All fans in the ground realised very quickly that Madine was poor, and that Glatzel was never the answer to the way Warnock or Harris play. Against Millwall it was a joke the crowd cheered when Glatzel won the first header late in the first half. I think Paterson will be off , and go back to Scotland or another Championship club.

He used to be able to run his socks off and willingly did. He has not proved able to do this since his injury and is clearly carrying a few pounds. He is though no worse than our pair of £5 million strikers and most opposition centre halfs would probably say they would rather play against Glatzel or Madine than unorthodox and awkward Paterson.

said this a few times..Madine was only ever brought here as an option/ back up . not to replace Ken but take pressure off him..he is never going to score many even if he had the extended run afforded to Glatzel but will give CBs plenty to think about ,win headers and move us up the field. as an option he is fine..Glatzel ? im waiting for him to do something, anything.. and he without a doubt was brought here to be numero uno.. people talk about him having a run of games to build confidence but none of the others have had that either...Madine 10 starts , Bogle 6, Ward 15. and those starts spread out over 2/3 seasons..
