So the only othe CM places are Bacuna and Tomlin.

Bacuna is probably playing as well as anyone right now, surely you don’t think Bacuna should be dropped. He’s more mobile and provides some forward drive.

Why are we obsessed with a defensive holding mid do we have to have one I dont think the better teams are so obsessed

Yes he has bad games but always keeps looking for the ball and is a box to box midfielder or the closest we have.

Sorry but Ralls is simply not a defensive midfield player, he’s too lightweight. Even though Pack didn’t have his best game yesterday how many times did he win the ball back ? Ralls doesn’t do that and somebody has to stop the opposition running straight at our back four.

Liverpool, Man City, etc all have a holding midfielder. Without one you simply get hammered.

Ralls not a bad player but (for me) doesn't set the tempo for the team as often as he should. Having said that, the current team does miss him in the absence of any realistic alternative for the position he plays

It's a matter of who's getting picked, not who's at the club.

Would everyone be missing Ralls in the team had our new manager selected Vaulks or Paterson over Pack? Who knows.
I'm of the opinion that had we played either Vaulks or Paterson over Pack we may have more points on the board. Just to be clear, Patterson as a 2 in midfield worked a few times in our promoton season, however it's still a gamble which has its compromises. But I believe Vaulks would be less of a gamble and would react quicker and better than Pack does at every situation.
