Pack, pointless.

Thu Dec 26, 2019 5:26 pm

Gonna stay away from my Flint posts today as he didn’t look that dodgy, I still have my opinion on him but I’ll save it for when it’s relevant.

There seems to consistently be 2 different players who make it awkward for us, Pack is the second, who really kills us. What’s the point in me praising his one challenge when he won the ball back in the first half (because I did praise him when he did it), that’s not a reason to play somebody though. Everyone compares Pack to Gunnarson but as far as I’m concerned he’s a sh*t Peter Whittingham, and I mean Whittingham in his last season for us. Slow and immobile. The only difference with Pack and Whittingham is Whitt’s had Tomlin vision, and a cracking left foot, whereas Pack has the creativity and passing of a Center half, and spacial awareness of Craig Noone (his last season before we sold him). There was a reason we sold No one & Whittingham when we did, and would you believe it the following season after they got sold we got promoted - never would’ve happened if we had played someone like Pack.

Pack is at fault for this slowing down of the ball, side to side crap just to give it away with a loose pass which happens to Pack more than anybody. Not to mention his pace.

If anybody wants to stick up Pack, now is your chance. I can’t wait To find out how completely different you see him.

Would be the first player I would move on, slow , pedestrian and slows down every attack, plus cant make simple passes at times.
Would replace with a player with energy and vision.

Yea when we first got him I thought he would be great in the team, not so much for winning the ball back but he be pinging balls from deep and spreading it around.

His passing is shocking and he looks scared stiff to move with the ball at his feet. Time does seem to slow time when he gets the ball, but not in a good way like when the good players get the ball they seem to be able to pick a pass or make a move.

Time stops because im waiting for him to pass the ball. Got to admit a couple of passes he receives leaves him in the shit, but yea shocking passing, rarely breaks up play and wins back possession.

what I will say....is what you call slowing it down side to side crap..{ which is whats happening } comes from the sideline..

He's not very good. I keep reading what a good passer he is online but I find it very erratic.

He's fine in a certain system but not in ours.

Complete waste of time if your Playing with only 2 cms not mobile enough to get round the pitch and way to slow to pass when he gets it.

Plus he kept losing the ball today.

Spot on, no legs and Bacuna has to cover for him.
First player we should replace in the engine room.

People have criticised bacuna but he runs and drives forward. Maybe not quite the same passing ability when they complete but he doesn't give as many hospital passes. Bacuna has done well IMHO

Bacuna and Ralls can work together if your only playing two CM’s utterly pointless playing Pack if only playing two as he can’t run. Need to play Vaulks or Patterson instead of him till Ralls is fit again.

Living on his past reputation. He is far too slow in thought and delivery. Sooner Ralls is back the better. People may now start to realise how good Gunnarson was for us. We so miss a midfielder of the quality of Peter Whittingham. Everytime the big screens show the best City goals against that days opposition, inevitably there is a screamer from Whits amonst them.

So you can’t give credit for Flint having a good game? If not for him we would have lost.

I dont think the deep lying midfield role suits him. He needs to be further up with a proper defensive midfielder behind him or next to him. He is struggling with the role hes being asked to do and his best games have come when he been next to Ralls who is a lot more mobile and reads the game well.

I agree we may have lost if Flint played like he usually does today. Thankfully he didn't make any big errors and he got us a goal. If I could say that about Flint every game (not the goal, just for him to be a good defender), I would give credit where it's due. However, it is my opinion than I believe Flint has been at fault for alot of defensive pressure by the other team due to Flints dodgyness that has lead to so many unnecessary draws and losses. I see too many bad performances by Flint.

So excuse me for finding it uncomfortable to praise somebody having one good game when I completely want them out of the team as we would be better off with Morrison (I know he's suspended), Bamba, or one of the Under 23's. I've made 2 posts praising Flint in individual games in the past, and since then he has produced his worst displays, the bridge has burned with Flint as I now know what he offers, and it's not very much. Let's see how he copes with better footballers, Millwall didn't test him at all.

I don't like to end this reply to Flint too negatively as he didn't do anything wrong today, but we shouldn't be saying "Thank god Flint didn't play badly" because Flint has never had above a 6 for us, he never will, he's too inconsistent over a 90 minute period. BUT WELL DONE FLINT FOR TODAY, that's all you're getting, no big post to celebrate his one Average performance.

Flint is very capable of having a very good game against certain types of teams. Problem is we all know another poor performance is around the corner.
