Big Transfer Window For Harris

Tue Dec 24, 2019 11:35 pm

Here we will see what this fella is really about imo. Massive injection of quality needed, and if he doesnt see that then hes clueless. He should be banging down tans door trying to get new signings in because he has inherited a mediocre championship squad compared to the top 6. Yes we need to get faces going out but by christ we need to freshen things up and get some quality in in january. Time for harris to build his own squad i hope he does it in january so we see what hes really about because we could have pep guardiola here and i think he would struggle to get in to the play offs with our shocking wingers and strikers thats underperformed all season and needs replacing asap...

Merry christmas :occasion5: if you think tree is a big pot for him to spend, then you are in for a surprise, no one out,no one in,he has just about said as much, really unfair to judge any manager on their business in january window, especially us.he will, need a couple of windows, not the dodgy January one, where prices are inflated. :old: :bluebird:

A very naive OP.

I don't think we should be buying anyone unless they have the capability of playing Premier League football.

The days of buying "squad players" should be gone. You're only as good as your weakest link so offload your weakest link and buy stronger.

And if that means we don't buy anyone so be it.

Agree getting in squad players has failed miserably in general! Time to think a bit higher if we are going to flourish especially if get promotion. :old:

The OP may be niaive but he is not wrong with what is required if we are to get better/ stronger.

Harris will know what finance available as I'm sure discussed before he signed on. Worst case scenario for us fans is him to accept mediocrity and not tell VT and the other utterly useless members of our transfer committee that sqaud is not good enough.

I'd be happy to pin our hopes on some quality loans with a point to prove. No idea who they may be but the talent pot to look at from top clubs youngsters more likely to provide top quality in form of a Mason Mount or Harry Wilson or a Gary Oneil or Eddie Newton from our past.

The post is not far off ludicrous  who the f@ck builds a "squad" during one window, and january ffs!we do need more quality on board, but won't get it in January's window, unless a large sum is given (which I doubt)but to say we will see what Harris is made of,in one inflated window (price wise) my hope is that he finds a couple of quality loan signings,in the positions that are screaming out for new blood.can't see Chelsea loaning mount,as he's doing good with them.Wilson maybe :?: maybe a hidden gem from abroad. :old: :bluebird:

I wasn't suggesting we could loan Mount or Wilson. They though had a hugely successful season at Derby and they are the type of players I'd like to see us bring in on loan. Tammy Abraham another who has been a great loan for clubs and now installed at Chelsea at first team level. From Harris time in London hopefully he is aware of a few. I have no names, just hopes.

agree.. massive injection of quality in a January window isn't happening..dont think its ever happened...
I remember Sam saying one year , the auto spots are out of reach so why take a big gamble on making the play offs which is a lottery where you only have a 25% chance of success.

We were bankrupt at the time he said that though :D

Sell anything and everything we can.

January is a sellers market, maximise any opportunity and make space to see if our kids are going to make it.

Let him have half of whatever he sells to spent and see.

It's all very well saying its easy to see whats missing but then we can all see Flint and Morrison can't play together and that didn't stop him dropping Nelson the other week.

Ok i see your point but i dont mean january will be the be all and end all actually. Harris has inherited a mediocre championship squad seriously lacking quality to compete at the top. Yes he needs a few windows to build HIS squad before he is truly judged. But what i mean is by now if he got anything about him then he would see we need massive change and should be banging tans door down to get the players in we need, starting this january even if it is just one player added. We dont have to spend a fortune look at the loans from the prem other teams have done and look at the business brentford have done.
