MATTHEW CONNOLLY | POLL

Fri Dec 20, 2019 7:17 pm

With Everything Going Smoothly In Terms Of Results For The Bluebirds, What Will Happen To Some Of The Players Who Have Not Put The Cardiff Shirt On For A Season Or 2 Now, Here Is A Poll That Determines Whether Or Not Players Stay Or Leave Cardiff.

MY THOUGHTS:
Matthew Connolly Has Been At Cardiff The Longest Probably And Its Such A Shame How His Career Is Not Going Anywhere Because Once He Gets On The Pitch He Is Fine But Sadly Due To Injuries That Has Kept Him Away For A Very Long Time. I Think He Deserves To Move Club So He Can Sort His Injuries Out And Get Playing Again Because He Is In The Background Trying To Recover At The Moment.

Should never have been given a new deal, must have a good agent to have got that from us as a thank you.

You make it sound as if moving club will suddenly make him fit.

Hes still at club because he is under contract and that suits the player. No other club will come along and offer him a contract matching the one he is currently on.

I don't know what some of the posters on here think happens with dead wood players. You just don't move them on and say thanks and good bye.

Our club has been so niaive in certain instances renewing contracts of injured and injury proven players. We don't know terns of renewals and game time financial rewards but the fact that we still have a few on our books seems to indicate contracts have been better for players than club.

at the moment he is under contract so therefore Cardiff City are obligated to keep paying him until his contract ends Sam.
its not a case of a vote or even if the manager would like him to leave { unless an agreement on payment of his remaining contract can be achieved }

its not just Sam. i keep reading this sort of thing all the time , people get it explained, then say it again... :laughing5:
nobody would walk away from a well paid contract unless damn sure they could earn the same or more elsewhere in any walk of life..

The club need to look into why he was given a 2 year after promotion, we all knew we would hardly see him again. What a waste or money on wages.

its the club that signed off on the contracts so its a bit late for that.?

I have no problem with Connolly being given an extended contract.

He is three years younger than Sol, a totally different centre half to the slow lumpers we have, so if fit did give up back up and options.

He is a journeyman championship player who understands his role in the squad, they are invaluable. A youngster would be kicking up a fuss wanting to develop his career.

Remember during Malkys promotion we had to play with a kid who was nowhere near the level, thats why a Connolly is important to squads

What was that kids name and where did he end up ?

A complete waste of a contract and money. He should never have been given another contract. Just terminate his contract, pay him up and have done with it, he’s played his last game for city anyway and nowhere near good enough to even get on the bench.
Waste of money, get rid.

Obviously so someone in my opinion wasn't doing their job correctly. Neither should have been given new deals.

my point was that the someone not doing their job properly is probably the same person you think should investigate it..
these million pound contracts are not signed off by underlings..

I agree. This is why he's been named in the list of players nominated from which to pick the championship team of the decade.

Ben Nugent was the kid, now at Stevenage. I recall Malky talking him up as a future Cardiff captain!

^This.
Personally I think this situation, along with one or two other current “contractual” problems absolutely Stink... and the blame lies with certain past And present employees!

he is aiming that at Warnock...but as things are right now it does look { reading our managers comments } that giving Jazz an extra year was not just correct but a bit of a master stroke....?
not my thoughts btw just going on NH constant Jazz comments... who knows Connolly might surprise everyone to

Pigs might fly one day, but I don’t think so. Neil Harris has already stated,,, on more than one occasion, that he wants (has) to trim back the current squad. It’s not to difficult to see where to start. This process should have been exercised last summer, IMO.

Connolly is a mystery, not least of all because he doesn't even get mentioned...as for the trimming down..dont know what to make of that because quite simply we have used and continue to use all the squad...
