Callum Paterson

Does anyone else thinks he seems unfit this season?
He just isn't producing what he was in his first season in the championship, he even looks like he has lost a couple of yards of pace.

He was rapid at Hearts. He came to us and sure he wasn't "rapid" but he had great acceleration, a massive leap on him to win everything in the air, and an eye for goal. Last season he seemed to dip a little bit. This season though, I don't know if he's bulked up a little bit or he's put on a few pounds but he definitely looks bigger whether that's muscle or not I don't know. He seems ALOT slower, that spring in his step for leaping for headers seemed to have gone, and also his eye for goal wasn't quite there, granted he hasn't played much this season but he's still played enough to get a decent idea of what he's like this season. I hope it's a temporary thing that he himself can fix, and not a gradual decline in his natural athleticism.

A big disappointed to me. Felt he could have been our number 9 with training. Feel that he will be wanted by championship and Scottish clubs in January.

have my fingers crossed its just a time thing getting back to where he was..

He provided us with something from his strentgh and fitness which he appears to have lost after injury. Not in the Tomlin mould but as a centre half you would fancy your 90 minutes marking him. His bit part cameos on the right of midfield usually when we are winning are all well and good but the intensity he brought seems to have gone.

Hmmmmmmmm, didn't Harris mention something a couple of weeks ago, regarding players not being fit? Maybe he's one of them? But definitely not the same this year, some way off imho. :old: :bluebird:

not quite sure what he was getting at .. his first week or so he bigged up the intensity and fantastic attitude in training.. and we have finished strongly in all his games.. including the efforts keeping forest out not just the late goals..?
but Patterson. just isn't the same.

I'm just not sure where he fits. Clearly unfit.

We all loved what he brought when he chipped in with some goals as a makeshift striker and his fitness levels at that time seemed extraordinary.

He is clearly not at those fitness levels now and I agree it's difficult to see where he fits. He's not a number 9, or 10. He's not a wide midfielder. I guess he's actually the right back we signed but not as good as Peltier and to be pushing top six we need a more able full back than Peltier going forward. Paterson has become a squad player for sure and isn't likely to get into a starting XI anytime soon unless injuries impact.

The way our strikers are playing I’d look st throwing him in up front again.

Although probably Ward with his goals per minute record deserves to start next week

He loves the cupcakes from greggs apparently

He is a number 9, he is aggressive, holds the ball up and scores. Unfortunately Warnock did not get specialist training to improve other aspects required to be a top striker. The player should also take responsibility his career has not moved forward.

unfortunately Warnock...its an obsession mate...he did improve the beer either.
love to know what company supplies this specialist striker stuff and why all clubs are not using it..

Maybe a bit of imagination would help!

Try ringing Shearer he praised him, when we were in the premership and ask him if he could help.

Is it just me or does he need to shed a few pounds?

I’ve just been watching the footage of our promotion season on Sky and he looks way slimmer and, more importantly, more agile.

He was a breath of fresh air a couple of seasons ago. I know that he’s spoken before about the fact he’s got African (I think) heritage but that no excuses for piling on the timber. He’s certainly got the desire and looks up for it on the pitch but I feel his current condition is holding him back. Does anyone else notice this?
