Latest on Kodjia links

Cardiff City have enjoyed a strong start to life under Neil Harris, but many fans will be keen to learn more about his plans for the upcoming January transfer window.

As always at this time of year, there is likely to be intense speculation regarding both incomings and outgoings over the next few weeks.

A couple of names have already been put forward as potential targets, including Aston Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia, who seems to be edging ever closer to a move when the window re-opens.

The 30-year-old forward, who once plied his trade at Bristol City, has been linked with several clubs ahead of the January window, with his future at Villa Park looking increasingly uncertain.

Tom Coleman examines the situation, and the likelihood of a move to the Welsh capital.

We could nt afford his wages and no doubt villa would want a fee, possibility of a loan move, personally no chance it would be permanent

Not offered new contract ! would be worth seeing about contract to end season with iew to buy?

The problem is nowadays if there is no fee it normally means the player will want more in wages over a longer contract so not necessarily a cheap option.

I'd still love to see us go for this signing but I do have my doubts.

There is a story on line that Villa have to get rid of a few big earners to comply with FFP so likely they will want to get him off their wage bill quickly and possibly worth their while paying a proportion of the wages until the summer ?

Can’t see it myself, I think he’d be more likely to join a club like Leeds, West Brom or Forest. Brewster too. Who knows though

Surely worth an enquiry? Nothing ventured nothing gained. :occasion5:

Id rather keep faith with Glatzel and spend some money on an attacking right back and left back. Scoring goals isn't out problem this season.

I think he is more likely to sit out what is probably a pretty decent contract and weigh up his options in the summer when there wont be a transfer fee involved and therefore can get a better deal for himself..

I agree and I think unfortunately we'll be blown out of the water by wages that other potential suitors would offer.
Never say never though I suppose. :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Yes I agree I was just looking at it from an ‘if he left in January’ basis

Not sure why you think that we would be blown out of the water on wages.
Everybody has to abide by FFP.
We have parachute payments and one of the biggest attendances in the league.
If we wanted to get him we could.

I think the biggest question is where would he fit in and would he improve our team.
The answer is debatable, yes he is well known but he has been poor for a few seasons

I hope you’re right but I get the impression we’re trying to be more prudent re wages being offered etc. Like I say, if he fits, I’d love to see him here.

Apparently Brewster wants the Swansea move.
