Could we lose Tomlin in January?

Coming to the last 6 months of his contract, his recent rejuvenated form may attract the attention of bigger payers than us. At the age of 30, you can’t blame him for going where the money is for what could be his last big pay day. Just thinking.

He has said personally, he wants to stay,he seems to be really enjoying it here,playing his part in the team,I'd give him a 2 yr deal myself.

Why when a player starts to hit form our fans feel they will get a big offer whatever that means and will leave?

there is no doubting he is our most gifted player ,a real game changer .
but yes it is just a few weeks , and had he managed to play at that level for any length of time during his career he wouldn't be here in the first place let alone on the cheap..

there is no doubting he is our most gifted player ,a real game changer .
but yes it is just a few weeks , and had he managed to play at that level for any length of time during his career he wouldn't be here in the first place let alone on the cheap..

I take your points but I think the general consensus may be that we have lacked a creative midfield player for years and to be honest I for one struggle to see any creativity in the side with him not in it.
Better late than never as the saying goes.

my issue is not the 2 wasted years here. or not just those 2 years...its his track record throughout his career...he seems to go through periods where he is switched on and teams cant handle him { normally when it looks like he has something to prove } followed by a slope downwards in form, not being picked, and sold..
its fantastic to watch those flicks and turns mate.. especially because for years now we have had hard working teams with very little flair. but I do think NH has some very difficult decisions to make on this fella. its not as simple as 5 good games = 5 yr contract. he will be fully aware he is just the latest in a list of people that thought they could get the current lee tomlin to be the permanent version..

if it were my decision I honestly don't know if id sell while his stock is high if an offer came in /
or offer a new contract longer than the apparent 1 year option..

I see your points mate and it’s hard to disagree.
It is a bit of a quandary.
If it was up to me I think I’d activate the year option that we have and probably add another year option to follow based on appearances etc.
Not as easy as that though with agents etc poking their noses in.

yes one step/year at a time would be ideal.. but as you say agents … im not sure but think agents can start listening to offers in January for the following season if a player is due to be out of contract in June, which at the moment, he will be..

Cant see the club letting him go in January.

Yes he is playing well but is any club likely to come in with any decent offer for someone at 30 who has only just got match fit after years of being over weight. I cant see it myself.

Said myself,2 yr deal at most,and fingers crossed he carries on in his current vein,certainly the x factor player for us,come on Mr Tomlin,prove the doubters wrong,stay fit and play a big part in theteam
