Still give me the shivers when we have an upcoming fixture against Preston.
We all remember the 6-0.
But be honest, were you there?
I was and remember it well.. Terrible afternoon.
Another one was Peterborough away when we went from 4-0 up to 4-4.
Both under Dave Jones...

No it was at Deepdale and a Saturday afternoon.

Took our party 6 hours to get there. An hour for every goal scored!
Am I right in remembering that Ross McCormack missed a pen that would have made it 1-1?
And that he had missed the previous 1 or 2?

Yes he did miss the penalty. Unbelievable game and was a long trip home for sure

Yeah I get the same shivers when its Preston.
We have had some horrific games against them over the last decade. They did the double over us when we went up 2 seasons ago. Etheridge wont want to remember that 3-0 loss at their place and they got a last minute goal against us at our place. I also remember a 3-0 loss at their place where they were down to 10 men and Jon Parkin tok us to the cleaners. Well its not all doom and gloom as the season after we lost 6-0 we went to their place and won 1-0 sending them down.

1st jan 1996 lost 5-0
24th april 2004 2 -2
9th sept 2006 lost 2-1
18th april 2009 lost 6-0
not my luckiest ground

It's a good job we are playing them at home then. We always seem to do badly at their place.

Pretty sure he did actually, not 100% though.
I seem to remember Neil Mellor the ex Liverpool player also scoring, but again may be wrong.

Mark Kennedy own goal ..best one I've ever seen ..missed playoffs by 1goal difference if I'm right ?

I was there.
I was drive and only positive was a very nice lunch in an authentic home style italian that had been there for years.

thought we were unfortunate to be 2 down at half time { 2 deflected goals } and Ross missing that pen...even their manager said it flattered them...2nd half we tried chasing the game and got torn a new one..

Correct. We could have lost 5-0 and still made the play offs

That 6-0 against Preston never goes away. Didn't we miss the playoffs that season by a very small margin on goal difference?

a solitary goal..ross scores the pen or Kennedy doesn't score one of the best/worse own goals ever and we make the play offs..

sorry mate...but both tables are taken from transfermarkt , which isn't the most reliable ...
we had 4 games left going into the Preston game and they had 3 left
we drew 2-2 at Charlton 3 days later

the goal difference was actually the same but they had 1 goal for more than ourselves...

Sheff wed away was an awful experience as it became apparent what was happening/happened elsewhere
