“ CARDIFF CITY TEAM NOT FIT “

Mon Dec 09, 2019 4:43 pm

Slow start, lightened the workload?

NEIL HARRIS:

No, they’re not fit enough this squad . They have to get fitter.

We’ve come down an intensity level or two. On Saturday, when I said about training standards and training intensity.

I looked at the sport science and maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t, you don’t know.

Individually the players will have to look at themselves and ask if they reached the standards. Some didn’t, some did.

We’ve talked about Tommo and Flinty being exceptional. But then that’s what a good team does, find a way to win. A good team, when two or three don’t hit their standards, four or five go above and beyond their standards. That’s how to balance it about

That's been apparent but a bold statement nonetheless. Can blame fitness staff, manager and regime but our players should know if they are as fit as seasons gone by or as fit as they can be.

I assume what he is saying is that the sports science stats, distances, bursts, recovery etc from the game are showing as lower than average for the players involved. He is then questioning whether that is linked to his new training regime and efforts to get players fitter.

Every time we’ve had a new manager they’ve said the players aren’t fit.

These players are renowned for scoring late on. Does not sound like unfit to me. With every utterance NH just sounds like a sound bite politician.
Not impressed. If he does not impress me, how will he impress hardened pros that Cardiff City have.

This appointment is going nowhere.

I really hope your wrong.. and its just him finding his feet..
but yes there have been a number of things he has said that just do not add up..
this being one...yep we score late in games. also there have been games where the last 20 minutes have been like the Alamo with people throwing themselves at shots and making last ditch tackles. unfit would mean we lose...

Our away record this season doesn't include too many late goals. Our promotion side looked fit. Paterson looked like a high speed tank that would go forever. Gunnar was fit as. I don't see too many of the group being top notch in fitness stakes. There is lots and lots of science behind the scenes and lots of different markers that can be used. It's a question of which markers managers and coaches priotise. We obviously need those that mean we are fit enough to chase the ball for as long as possible as we don't ever have it as much as the opposition do and you have to be fitter chasing than controlling.

Paterson doesn't look as fit since his injury but I find it difficult to believe as a whole we are less fit having had the same regime and coaches...
I do fully agree with the different markers being used. because as Llan said its every single manager says the same. personally I think Harris should have stayed away from saying it and just got on with fixing what he thinks is wrong .

Don't score three second half goals without being a bit fit.

Guess everyone got their prep just right for Leeds away.
