Cardiff City manager Neil Harris told BBC

Sat Dec 07, 2019 10:22 pm

Cardiff City manager Neil Harris told BBC Sport Wales:

"First and foremost let me be very honest, that wasn't a great performance from us.

"I thought we were a little bit lethargic and I'll hold my hands up for it. We've had a tough week, when we don't have a midweek game I have to find a way of working the group and getting them up to speed because maybe I pushed them too hard.

"We saw a performance where we were half a yard off it. Credit goes to Barnsley, I spoke before about their qualities and how hard they work and they made it difficult for us, but we weren't great.

"But I will praise my players by saying they found a way to win, and good sides find ways to win. "We've got 10 points from four games, so my players are finding ways to win."

It must be so hard having to play football for 90 minutes a week ffs. I know we won today but after that performance they should be in for double sessions next week

I like his honesty about the performance. Difficult to imagine them working so hard it's impacted their Saturday afternoon though.

Glad to see him being honest, a lot of respect for that when he could easily ignore the performance to the media because we won.

Important thing was the three points today.

I'm sure performances will be better going forwards.

Hope so.

Great to hear that honesty. Can’t fault that. I was really worried when I saw the predictions thread and most fans suggesting a convincing victory. People forget that this league is now the most competitive league for a reason. It’s changed over the past few years and absolutely no games are a given. By all accounts Barnsley have played really well since their new manager has taken over but bottled it through a built up lack of confidence. After a win last week I thought we’d be in for a tough game today. Harris has called it as it is in that we struggled at times. Fair play to the boys for going to the end and getting all the points

Too many posters on this forum get carried away. The prediction thread on this forum was an example of that as were some people’s reactions to the game today. Sure someone described it as a ‘brilliant display’. I’m glad my assessment of the game is that of the manager himself and not of some on here who genuinely think we played brilliantly today

Great to hear his honesty....I predicted 3-0 because I genuinely thought we had a big performance coming and Barnsley are having a dreadful season .
Better than being negative even if it turned out to be a poor performance

There’s a fine line between negativity and realism

No there isn't! Realism is we didn't play well, but still managed to take all 3 pts,Warnock would have shut up shop at 2-2,while we went for all 3 under Harris, anyone who describes that performance anything other than adequate, is slightly potty, but you know the saying"sign of a good side is winning, even when not playing particularly well" while I'm not getting carried away,we still haven't reached a stage where we can,I will accept the performances,as we are under new manager, and he has admitted we need a bit of time,to gel under his stewardship, next 2 games are going to be mightily tough, two in form sides, but at present so are we of sorts,4 unbeaten with 3 wins.if we manage to bring home points, even 2 draws, then we could really push o in the new year, onwards and upwards, keep the faith :old: :bluebird:
