Baku is a decent place certainly not GREAT but it’s ok.

We were there for last away game. Quite a few British style pubs and bars. Prices are cheaper than UK.

The area around Fountain square is the main tourist area but the most expensive. Bars further away are much cheaper and you can get a beer for about a pound a pint.

There feels like a strong Turkish kind of feel to the place but the locals were welcoming enough.

It’s right on the sea but no beach although the promenade is a nice walk to get rid of any hangovers.

Although what we will all find to do for 6 whole days is beyond me!!!!!

Our group have booked for 6 days in Baku. In my opinion it will be a long 6 days having just spend four days there for the recent Wales game.
Obviously if you haven’t been there before it will be a new experience.

Hotels and flights are going up daily so best get a move on :ayatollah:

I think we will take approx 5k to both games in Baku and 10k to Rome.

It's quite an interesting place, loads of history so many good museums and being ex-socialist, very cultural on the art side.
It's very geologically active so with oil that used bubble to the surface was interesting indeed but that's been drawn down so could get even more interesting! Does throw up some hot mud volcanoes to west of main city, hot springs and such like that have not been developed into mass tourist areas, well worth a visit.
I'll be hiring an "SUV" with a lady friend I met last month as guide for a couple of days, I get it for diesel money and tips for driver. We're still in planning stage of where I want to go and what I want to see, probably should add that before I was made redundant by last company I was working on Baku City Masterplan, so water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, tunnelling sites might not be on everyone's list!
There are official trips that can be easily organised through internet but, if anyone is interested in personal tours I can ask.
I doubt it would it cost more than 20 quid a day as the locals are very proud of their country, very, very hospitable people so better off with them.
