The definitive situation with Bobby Reid at Fulham and the two clauses in his contract Cardiff City fans should know about

The playmaker signed a season-long loan deal with the Cottagers in the summer

The playmaker signed a season-long loan deal with the Cottagers in the summer

The appointment of a new manager at Cardiff City prompted many fans to question whether the door was still ajar for Bobby Reid's return.

After all, the playmaker left Cardiff City Stadium this summer after he believed his style of football conflicted too much with Neil Warnock's philosophy.

He penned a season-long loan to West London on deadline day, but it was understood at the time that his deal would become a permanent one at the end of the season.

While many accepted that would be the case, some wondered if new boss Neil Harris had any say over whether he could put the kibosh on that move becoming final next summer.

There were two conditional clauses in Reid's contract at Fulham which, if met, would see his move become permanent.

The first clause is that he would have to make five appearances for Fulham and that box has certainly been ticked.

The second was that if Fulham were relegated from the Championship then he could return to the Bluebirds. With Fulham tipped by many to be promoted this season and currently sitting in third place, the chances of that happening are slim to none.

So it means, then, to all intents and purposes, both of the conditional clauses in Reid's contract are due to be met and he will become a Fulham player permanently in the summer.

It is also understood that City are set to make money on the deal.

The Bluebirds forked out £8.5m to sign the player from Bristol City in a bid to beef up their forward line for the Premier League campaign.

However, it is thought that the deal will eventually net Cardiff £10m, which will represent a £1.5m profit.

Let him go as said. A player who doesn't want to be here and not as good as he thinks, plus a £1.5M profit.

No brainer for City

Extremely selfish so let him go, not only let the club down but also his fellow professionals
Took the money whilst in the PL , so no more needs to be said on this ex player.

A player who didnt want play for warnock more like.
He wanted to play football.

Still find it weird why warnock would pay so much for him then use him for the prem where he was never tested there before, then get rid of him in the championship where he had been proven to be good and score !

My view on it is Warnock signed him to play in the role Camarasa did thinking we would be getting Grujic.

With Grujic deal falling apart at the last minute, the plan went to pot and we were short in midfield and we were left hunting for what was available in the loan market.

Camarasa deal happened last minute and he was a better option than Reid as it turned out.

With Camarasa leaving I genuinely think Reid was lined up to play that role in the championship but for whatever reason he had got disillusioned and wanted away.

As a result Tomlin got the chance he would never had got if Reid had stayed and I think we might just have the better player if he stays fit.

All just guesswork though.

very much how I see it.. things change and other opportunities develop all the time in football always have..
in this case it really was last minute with Camarasa and if not for his wife/GF it wouldn't have happened at all in which case Reid looked nailed on to be playing .

I thought he would thrive at Fulham who are a footballing side but he has not done paticularly well in terms of goals scoring. I thinks it's one goal in about 16 games. Don't think he would be a Harris type player either.

Perhaps Fulham have found out he is just another over paid Prima Donna who thought by getting into the Premiership one of the big 6 would come in for him, ( visions of grandeur springs to mind )

Keep him away from here.
