' JAZZ RICHARDS '

The right back has been plagued by injuries and is yet to feature for the first team this season - in fact he has been forced to miss 62 games through injury in just three years at the club.

But he put in a stellar display on Monday for the under-23s against Charlton Athletic and Neil Harris, who was in attendance, was suitably impressed.

Harris's predecessor, Neil Warnock, was keen to include Richards back into the fold after he looked sharp in an academy game last month, but the defender suffered yet another setback with his hip.

Now, though, Harris appears excited by the prospect of the player's return.

The Bluebirds boss hopes he can be the man to harness Richards' ability and reserved some special praise for the Wales international.

"His abilities at right back are as good as anyone in this division," Harris said of Richards.

"Can I be the manager who finally gets him fit and consistent in fitness levels? That’s my challenge with my staff.

"He’s a great lad and I’ve played against him and managed against him and he’s certainly a talented footballer."

Feel sorry for anyone who is plagued by injuries, but he's absolutely no good to us, and to give him a new contract was crazy. In any other job, he would have been pensioned off long ago. If we need to give Peltier a rest, what about the young lad Coxe, who's supposed to be a great prospect? As far as I'm concerned the sooner Richards is out the door the better.

Never known a player have so many posts about him without ever actually playing a game (like ever!)...

I personally can’t wait for Jazz to be fit (if it ever happens) He is a great RB as he can defend and attack, exactly the type that suits the style Harris wants to play. And he can even sit in front of the defence if needed.as Harris eluded to in his interview he’s probably one of if not the best RB in the league, and I can’t argue with that.

He’s not injured anymore, albeit he’s not match fit yet. I believe it was the ankle that kept him out for a long time. But since coming back it’s been niggles here and there.

Would be a massive boost to the squad if we could get him fit. There’s no doubting his ability in this league. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was out again before Christmas though.

im not sure he would be a boost...would you like to be overlooked for someone with his record ? while thinking ..and how long will his interest last this time..its not like he is Messi
he is a good player , and a nice enough young man. but hasn't done this club any favours.

Shame but he has to move on, too much of a risk to offer another contract to.

I also reckon, Bogle, Connoly,Tomlin and Madine will all follow due to their contracts expiring next summer.

It was a massive mistake extending his contract given the return we have had from him but you can’t knock his ability when he is fit and the last run of games he had he was solid. I’d put a fit jazz Richards before Peltier, especially as Harris wants our fullbacks to overlap our wingers. And on recent form you could argue that Bennet could have been dropped. So given we only have Coxe as cover at RB and no natural cover at LB I’d say a fit Richards would be a massive boost to the squad.

If he wasn’t so injury prone he would have played a lot more games for us, fact. A manager should pick the strongest team. Jazz offers more going forward than Peltier so should start if fit.

hmm. not saying he can not play. been consistent on that since the day he signed... also been consistent about how uninterested I thought he would be from the day he signed. I agree with picking your strongest team , but there are exceptions and im afraid I think this is one...
don't think everyone is in agreement on Bennet either. im certainly not.
