A Bristol City Fan

Thu Nov 28, 2019 5:44 pm

Just chatted to an ardent Bristol City Fan and says we sold you all those players for reason, most were never going to get better.

As to Aden Flint he was great in League 1, bought from Swindon League 2, left Alverton Town at the Age of about 22.
He was a hero in lower leagues as a hard man, powerful, but very slow, but going up to the Championship is on another level.
The money they got £6mill was amazing and could not believe it.

Bobby Reid was not meant to play the Warnock way.

Lee Tomlin hit and miss, can be quality on his day and then goes astray and will never change.

Marlon Pack steady Eddie, But £4mill , way over priced.

Did we really pay 4 million for Pack ? no wonder the worzels are laughing as 6 million for Flint as well and he is right on both of them.

However I know the worzels were angry over the Tomlin deal and Reid let our club down by doing what he did by wanting to leave for Fulham at the time he did right at the end of the transfer window

I agree with much of what you say in this post but Bristol City sold Flint to Middlesbrough not us

He wasn’t saying us, he was saying what he thought about Flint and how they could not believe their luck on money and that he is a lower league player.

Sadly they are laughing with all the money we’ve paid for these players, who just ordinary over all.

They were in meltdown when those players left, never mind to us.
It can go either way when players leave,if any of those went on to become big goal scorers or internationals they’d be asking if there were sell on clauses attached, nothing new, move on.

Personally, I wouldn't expect a Bristol City fan to say anything else; anymore than we would in the opposite direction ;)

If anyone was to 'blame' for their seemingly uninspiring time at City to date (inc. Reid) it pains me to say it but we might just need to look at the man who brought them in?

I was basing it on the words “ we sold you all those players”

Re: A Bristol City Fan

where did he get the figure £4 million for Pack? I seem to recall a figure of around £750K being quoted at the time.

Re: A Bristol City Fan

Thu Nov 28, 2019 6:14 pm

I’m sure we didn’t pay anywhere near £4m for Pack

Re: A Bristol City Fan

I knew Flint wasn’t a quick.. why didn’t Warnock. Idiotic transfer either way.

Re: A Bristol City Fan

The way I look at it is the fact that we have been in the premier league twice. Bristol have achieved nothing!!! They sell their best players every year despite having an owner who is quite possibly one of the richest British owners.

The owner is only interested in money and the so called Ashton gate sports village with its basketball etc. He is not interested in the club.

Every year Bristol town have a Christmas collapse after their fans rave on about being near the top of the league...having most clean sheets in Europe and so on. I know as I work with many Bristol town fans and they are all the same.

They are a selling club and are only annoyed to the fact that these "best" players have moved on.

Bristol City fan, take it all with a pinch of salt, all fans say players were shit when they leave, I was saying the same about Bobby Reid whn he went to Fulham, but in truth he's pretty good

No one likes to think of their club as our feeder club!

Ask him who is any good there now, as we will probably take him for next season!

Re: A Bristol City Fan

I remember when we bought Pack there were mixed reports about him on the Bristol message board about half thought he was a good player mr reliable type who could help the defence out and to a certain extent control midfield. The other half thought he was too slow and slowed everything down and they would prefer a more quick attacking type. I suppose the truth is if we paid £750,000 decent value,if we paid £4 million mad. Bobby Reid never fitted our style and Wrnock should have known it. As for Flint never worth £6 million but not as bad as some are suggesting. Has become a bit of a scapegoat.

Sven is correct in what he says. As good as Warnock was for our club, his overall transfer record is poor at best :bluebird: :bluescarf:

If Bristol City hadn’t made a player sale profit of well over £30m last season they would have made a big annual loss. Good business on their part to trade so well in players ( better than we did under NW) but unlikely to be repeatable every season so an underlying loss making club.
They also benefited hugely in the Summer when owner Steve Lansdown did a debt to equity conversion of over £70m similar to what Vincent Tan has done for CCFC in recent years. However, even after this they still had net debts over £50m

I think pack was 2 million wasn’t he? A bit more if we go up? Tomlin didn’t cost much either and I think he will be worth his weight this season. Money back on bobby Reid too? So it’s just flint really....not one of Neil’s better signings

We only paid £750k for Marlon Pack and £4m for Flint ( from Middlesbrough) . I think we still overpaid for Flint but it wasn’t Bristol City who benefited- they made their profit when they sold him to Middlesbrough. When we signed him I instantly checked if his agent is James Warnock ( he isn’t)

I was told £1mill for Pack with add ons.

I have only repeated the Bristol City fans exact words

Forever Blue you have a massive agenda against Flint. At the start of the season you were saying what a good player he was and how he was our best player of the season so far. I personally think he is our 4th choice centre back, but you’re opinions change like the wind.

I work in Bristol so get this every day and in hind sight probably right but if they sold us Messi he would be too slow, all left foot not tall enough and glad to rid of him just like Reid after finishing top scorer for them. They do hate CCFC and it’s a massive rivalry but I prefer them over the Jacks any day

No agenda at all, I say as soon as any player arrives,I back them, I give him a chance and look at all the positives only.
But Flint has only gone backwards if you were honest?

Oh please, not another Worzel post!!

Bitter, twisted and always in the shadow of Welsh football being too close :D

Much preferred The Gas games myself :ayatollah: :ayatollah: although any Bristol derby matches are miles Infront of our West Wales cousins.
