The Cardiff City 'leader' who Neil Harris says has a 'huge' part to play in his Bluebirds vision

The manager waxed lyrical about a key man in the Bluebirds squad

The manager waxed lyrical about a key man in the Bluebirds squad

Almost 12 years ago, Cardiff City's club captain Sean Morrison strode out to make his full debut for Swindon Town.

Who was his opposite number that day? None other than the Bluebirds' new manager Neil Harris.

Of course Morrison, then 17, was just a tyro back in 2008, but over a decade later he has become a Cardiff City mainstay.

It is strange, then, to see him sitting on the sideline, as he was for both the draw with Charlton at the weekend and for Harris' first win as Bluebirds boss last night against Stoke City.

While Morrison missed out before the international break owing to a bad wrist injury, Harris confirmed the skipper is now fully fit, however he wants to afford both Curtis Nelson and Aden Flint an opportunity for their partnership to flourish.

"Coming into the last game and watching the previous game, I thought Curtis and Aden did OK and I've just given them an opportunity.

"It's about giving people opportunities. Lee (Tomlin) had it tonight after he came on and scored (against Charlton).

"It's about opportunities and a little bit of trust in people, to give them a second game and a third game, when they've maybe not quite been at their best."

The centre-back pairing of Flint and Nelson paid dividends against Stoke, with the Bluebirds not only earning the win but keeping a clean sheet in a tight affair.

But while it appears that partnership will be given a run in the team, Harris waxed lyrical about Morrison and insisted his chances will come.

"He wants to play," Harris added. "He's a great leader and a great man. I've got huge respect for him.

"Mozza has a huge part to play here. He will get opportunities."

My issue with Flint is he is so slow and not a great header of the ball he wins the header but he doesn't know where the ball is going and last night it went straight back to a stoke player most times.

Morrison is slightly better than Flint in my view but im sure many will disagree but that is the love of football we all
have views and normally different too lol

Here’s the first 10 minutes, will update you as I go through the rest of the game

1:05 Flint misses a header
1:26 Flint misplaces his pass and concedes possession
1:35 Flint doesn’t attack ball in the air, attacker chests it
3:06 Flint doesn’t attack header, Joe Allen chests it
9:26 misses the ball, Nelson deals with it

Already that’s more than one “didn’t miss a header or tackle all game” and we’re only 10 minutes in. We haven’t even got to the “Abysmal” parts yet, which are coming up later in the first half. I shall continue to take note of his errors for you.

Sometimes the only way to win an arguement is to fight denial and ignorance with facts

For his height he is no where near aggressive enough in the air

Highlight the positives by Flint for a balanced report.
