MY OPINION: NEIL HARRIS FIRST HOME GAME IN CHARGE & IT WAS

MY VIEW / MY OPINION

NEIL HARRIS FIRST HOME GAME IN CHARGE & IT WAS A BATTLING ONE THAT SAW CARDIFF GAIN THREE VALUABLE HOME POINTS :thumbright: :bluebird: :ayatollah:

Not the most entertaining game, but Harris will be happy to get a home win.

Stoke looked dangerous on the break, so Cardiff will be happy with the clean sheet :thumbright: :bluebird:

For me Flint and Hoilett did not perform well and nor did they at Charlton.

City looked tired in last 15mins with Stoke finishing stronger, but thankfully were able to hold out for the 3pts :thumbright:

First-half: Over all Cardiff were the better side so far, Stoke were very poor & Cardiff deserved their half-time lead :thumbright: :bluebird:

Flint was beaten on a few occasions and for me he is the weak link in our defence.

Cardiff City: :bluebird:
Neil Etheridge Lee Peltier Curtis Nelson Aden Flint Joe Bennett Leandro Bacuna
Marlon Pack Nathaniel Mendez-Laing Junior Hoilett Lee Tomlin Gary Madine

11th min A great start by Cardiff and a great goal, Leadnro Bacuna played it into Gary Madine and the striker layed off a beautiful pass back into his team-mates path in the area.

Bacuna took one look up and hammered it into the roof of the net! 1-0 :thumbright: :bluebird:

The game went quite for long periods.

38th min Lee Tomlin’s saw him shrug off Joe Allen’s challenge and he whipped ball across the face of goal, which found Gary Madine.

Madine, just four yards out, got a toe on it but Jack Butland made a wonder-save!

Flint got beaten on a few occasions.

City deserved the lead :bluebird:

H/T 1-0 :thumbright: :bluebird:

Stoke started well and Tom ince like the first=half got past Junior Hoilett on numerous occasions.
Hoilett in the end brought Ince down giving away a free-kick on the edge of the box, thankfully Etheridge saved it :thumbright: :bluebird:

Lee Tomlin looked up for it and caused the Stoke goalkeeper to make a few good saves.

Cardiff City sub: Omar Bogle came on, Gary Madine off.

Bogle and Tomlin started to work well and made the Stoke defence work hard including their goalkeeper.

Stoke started to threaten,

There was an Incredible block from Peltier, who denied Clucas from close range!

Harris made another sub Cardiff City sub, Mendez-Laing came off, Callum Paterson on.

In the last 10mins

Lee Tomlin was booked for simulation. That was horrendous.

Cardiff City sub: Tomlin off, Will Vaulks on.

City looked tired in last 10mins,but managed to hang on :bluebird: :bluebird:

Think it was one of those games where the result matters more than the performance which was nothing better than ok. Luckily Stoke had absolutely no cutting edge up front. Again Madine had another good all round game but when he got a great chance fluffed it again. No one was bad but plenty a bit lacklustre. Hope Glatzel and Ward are available for the weekend Forest will be a real test.

Was Warnock managing tonight?

“See how long you can hold onto the lead lads; let them come onto you and Flinty and Nelson don’t dare leave your penalty area and Packy stay with them and just lump it up the field; you never know we might sneak a free kick or corner.”

Absolutely dull and boring and so disappointing irrespective of the result and a clean sheet.

It was a terrible game to watch imo. I thought we were crap and had no ideas but Stoke were even worse, which is why we won. Good result but jesus it was tough to watch as you could tell by how quiet the crowd was.

So you prefer a game like Saturday and lose? It's his 2nd game needs time to have players get used to things ! Yes was a quiet game lacked exciting play but we played the ball lot more than NW did? so we move on to Saturday a totally different game no doubt.. :old:

So you didn't see any difference with the way we played last night to Warnock's time  ?

You didn't notice how often Bennett got in and around the opposition penalty area ?

You didn't notice how NML, Tomlin and Bacuna continually worked as a triangle rather than pumping the ball aimlessly down the line ?

You didn't notice how Pack was hitting wide balls to feet rather than pumping it down the centre for the centre forward to battle for ?

I'm not saying that it all worked, nor that it was particularly pleasing on the eye but there were some pretty significant changes in tactics given that he's only been in charge for less than 2 weeks.

The jury is out on Harris, but it would be wrong to claim that nothing has changed because it clearly has.
