'AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE SORTED’ – THE JOB FACING NEIL HARRIS AT CARDIFF CITY
By Louie Chandler - EFL Reporter on behalf of Football League World (FLW)
With the halfway point in the season rapidly approaching, Cardiff will be frustrated with how things have gone for them back in the Championship so far.
They sit in 14th with 16 matches played, with hopes of an immediate Premier League return fading further and further away by the week.
But, prior to the international break, they made a bold shout, parting ways with Neil Warnock and bringing in former Millwall man Neil Harris.
His first match will come against Charlton this weekend, but what does he need to do with the club to make it a success?
Tackling today’s six point opinion is Louie Chandler…
What should the priority for Harris be at Cardiff?
“There is clearly an issue of confidence within the squad at the moment.
“With no away wins all season and a promotion bid that is far from hitting its stride, Harris needs to go in and make sure the players believe in themselves and eachother.
“With the squad at their disposal, they should be challenging but this is an issue that needs to be sorted.”
Are there any tactical problems that must be addressed?
“Not so much.
“The team that Warnock started the season with was not so different to the one he had in the Premier League, so I am not sure that the problem was ever particularly with his style of play.
“Although at the same time that should not mean Harris should not try new things if he sees fit.”
What about personnell? Who needs to step up?
“The obvious candidate is Robert Glatzel.
“Danny Ward has done admirably but it is the summer signing who really needs to start upping his performance levels under Harris.
“They simply will not be competing unless they have a striker who is capable of scoring 15 to 20 goals for them and after the money splashed on him in the summer, Glatzel needs to be that man.”
With January just around the corner, which areas should he be looking to strengthen?
“You would have to say in attack.
“Glatzel simply hasn’t stepped up and Cardiff can only wait so long for him to do so. Harris must be looking to strengthen that area in January.
“If it is not by bringing someone new in, they could always bring somebody back. Bobby Reid is a proven goalscorer in the second tier and would surely be a better option than what they currently have, if he is recalled from his loan with Fulham.”
What should Cardiff’s ambitions be under Harris?
“I think they have to be aiming for the play-offs.
“It has been a tough opening half of the campaign but they are not out of the race by any means. Harris has shown before that he can piece together strong winning runs with Millwall so you would be a fool to count them out.
“It will be tough, but I think the Bluebirds need to aim high.”
Finally, can you see Harris being a success with Cardiff?
“I honestly can.
“I understand frustrations among the Cardiff fans who see him as a bit of a dull appointment, and I get that. But it is an appointment that should come in very smoothly.
“He is a young boss who clearly has a lot of potential and if Cardiff give him the time necessary, I really think he can build something great in South Wales.”

Yes like zohore is scoring goals with the change of style with west brom sorry its nothing to do with style of play any good striker will score goals whatever the style if zohore was scoring or Bobby Reid then I may think you are right but this talk of style is rubbish
The only player we have who can score is a rightback or midfielder and that is Patterson
