Has any player who went to China

Thu Nov 21, 2019 11:24 am

Except a chinaman of course, ever played for his country again.
I’m asking this because of the hype around Bale (and i do like him tbh)if he’d have gone to any Chinese club there’s no coming back from that, when it was touted that he was going I think most people thought that because of the standard of that league that his international career was over,so if he’d gone in the middle of a campaign would the same people be fawning over him.
Now all of a sudden GB is the patron saint of Welsh football,That flag should have read
China Money goodbye

I suppose the counter argument would be he's hardly played or trained for Real Madrid this season, particularly since the last international break.

So if he'd gone to China and stayed fit, it would be better than the current circumstances which doesn't suit anyone - football wise..

As for players who continued to play for their country, I'm certain Paulinho is one for Brazil.

Yes. First name that came to mind since he was in our group...

He even scored...

Also, the other 2 big players (I use the term big quite loosely) I thought of also play for their nation still.

Yannick Carrasco started for Belgium on Tuesday, and scored.
Stephan El Shaarawy was an unused substitute for Italy on Monday.

I don't really know many others, although I know Oscar, Hulk, Talisca & Paulinho no longer play for Brazil, but that's just 1 nation.

Also, Bale would quite easily be the biggest coup for chinese football in the history of the competition, by quite a mile too. He will still be playing for Wales after he's 35, long after he's left Madrid. Money talks, but taking the money doesn't suddenly make you a bad footballer.

I agree with that, you don’t become a bad player but doesn’t it throw into question that Wales wouldn’t pick players who ply their trade in the lower leagues,or would GB have been an exception?because make no mistake until Madrid pulled the plug GB was offski. !!!

He could play in the Welsh prem for all I care and he'd still be our best player and that's what you do, u pick the best players available so regardless of what league he's in we know he's one of the best alongside Ramsey. Hamsik moved to China and Arnautovic went to China and both are still doing great for their national side.
