Cameron Coxe

If there have been calls for any academy player to be given his chance in the first team, it's Wales youth international Cameron ‘ Cameron Coxe ‘

By Glen Williams

The exciting full-back has made fleeting appearances for the City first team in recent years, but not nearly enough to placate many fans' desire to see him more often.

Lee Peltier has been the nailed-on first choice this season, with Bruno Manga often filling the berth last year.

However, in Peltier's absence against Reading, Warnock opted for Leandro Bacuna at right-back and he had a nightmare afternoon. Curtis Nelson was introduced a little after 20 minutes and also had an uncomfortable time of it.

It only served to add to the frustrations of City fans, who would have loved to have seen Coxe given his chance.

In his only first-team appearance this season, the Carabao Cup defeat by Luton Town, he was one of the only players to impress.

He will hope a new manager places more faith in youth and he gets a much-deserved look-in.

I've been saying for ages to drop peltier and play coxe. I think hes ready and looks a decent player. He was touted by man city!!!

It is definitely time for Coxe to have a run in the team, an obvious promotion to first team level from our academy. Peltier is solid but isn't getting any younger.

managers should pick the best players.... I really don't care if they are 16 or 36, from slopper road or the moon..

Agreed so why are we picking peltier instead of coxe? Peltier is always out of position

If Man City thought he has even a 10% chance he could be good enough for them they would have him in the academy.

He’d already be in the first team if the club hadn’t blocked his loan to Rotherham last January

Not this bullshit again.

He’s a local lad best in the academy he must be the dogs bollocks.

Name me one player who wasn’t given a chance here that’s gone on to bigger and better things.

I don't think he has been...but being in a Welsh squad means ? the reality is there are often players in our national squad that are not in their club sides...players who have not played a league game..and players called up once and not seen ever again.. if your a football fan id imagine you know that....

Agreed? Yes I agreed age dosent matter. You haven't seen coxe play championship opposition so how can you be so sure he is not ready. It dosent mean Warnock was right not to pick him just because he was manager. All managers get decisions wrong.

More then one manager hasn’t picked him to be fair.

An managers can also tell from training if a players going to be good enough.

It’s funny that people actually believe that we have an academy full of brilliant players that our managers just decide to ignore for no reason.

If they were good enough they’d play anybody thinking otherwise is daft as f**k.

the point is im not sure either way and do not see how an inexperienced journo can say...much deserved. or how you could agree on the strength of Man Citys academy not thinking him good enough...
yes maybe Warnock has been wrong...maybe Warnock does rate him just at the moment not as highly as Pelts. apparently he stopped the boy going to Rotherham, I can only assume as he wanted him here just in case ..plus the boy was on the bench v Bristol both point to a manager that does rate the player .. and yes Harris may or may not have a different opinion either way.. but they are paid well to make the decisions and have experience

Have any of us seen Cameron Coxe play enough to make a judgement on how good he is? As far as I can remember the only game he has played in is the home cup tie against Luton which we lost 3-0. As for Man City if they really wanted him he would be a ManCity player now. Have to agree we seem to go out of way not to play him given what happened at Reading and it does not help that Peltier never seems to get injured.

Whenever Ive seen Coxe play he has looked very self assured and not out of place.
Certainly can handle himself at championship level

I don't see that Warnock went out of his way to not play him , he just went with experience..
as for the Reading game.. he dodged a bullet there . and would it really have been right to give a full debut the following game after such a poor all round performance..?. we won so in hindsight it looks like maybe we could but in the moment I think we wanted our most experienced team giving a reaction..

Clean slate, if he's good enough we soon know, Harris give youth a chance.

My mate a long term Millwall fan told me this as soon as he was announced, and backed up by his press conference and other reports on Harris.

It's all down to Coxe now, and how much he really wants it!
