A forum for all things Cardiff City

Cardiff City have turned to Neil Harris to replace Neil Warnock as manager. Here are five players he could sign for the Bluebirds:
Lee Gregory- The experienced striker has struggled to hit the ground running for Stoke City since his summer switch there having scored just three goals in 15 games. He was prolific for Millwall under Harris so could his former boss offer him an escape route from the Bet365 Stadium this winter?
Ben Thompson- Harris has a good relationship with the tough-tackling midfielder and he could be high up on his list of targets. The 24-year-old has played over 100 games for the Lions and is now an established Championship player.
Scott Malone- The current Derby County left-back is now competing with Max Lowe for his starting spot at Pride Park. He has played for Cardiff before in the 2015/16 season. The Bluebirds’ defence needs strengthening and Harris may turn to the man he had at The Den a few years back.
Jed Wallace- Signing him from Millwall would be a statement by Cardiff. The former Wolves midfielder was a massive player for Harris at the London outfit but he could prove hard to lure away from a fellow Championship side.
Ben Marshall- The new Cardiff manager signed the winger twice during his tenure at The Den. Marshall is a free agent after being released by Norwich City at the end of last season and is an option for the Bluebirds now if they want to add more depth into their squad.

Only Jed Wallace would inspire me from that group and moves for a stuttering Marshall and a City reject Maloney would be the worst of the bunch

Only Jed Wallace for me too. Trouble is Warnock has spent all our money and we will have to fork out £15 million for Sala so I suspect we will not be buying anyone for quite a while.

Is this the same Scott Malone who we couldn’t wait to offload a couple of years ago??
Sun Nov 17, 2019 3:39 pm
The very same we swapped with mr injury prone jazz richards....fulham then sold him for 5m to huddersfield

Our defence went worse when we got rid of Malone it was terrible business by Cardiff luckily Bennet came good under Warnock
but it the worst deal we have done in ages especially as Malone liked it at Cardiff I spoke with him when he came with Fulham in that rubbish FA cup game.
But our squad need reducing before we get any more players our squad is large now

None of them would improve us

I always thought Malone was a decent player, much better than Bennett.

Is Barry Kitchener available?
Couldn’t be any slower than Flint

That list assumes he'll just be targeting players he knows from Millwall FFS!
Are we turning from a team of Bristol City cast offs to a team of former Millwall players who are failing at their current clubs?
Why doesn't the list contain some young talented players from Premier League clubs who are looking to go on loan in January?
Is that perhaps because the Neil Harris style of football is too similar to the Neil Warnock style of football and no Premier League club would be interested in loaning their players to a club playing the same style of football?
Do Neil Harris and the club have no intention of looking at players from other clubs who might actually improve the team?
Hopefully Harris has used his time out of work to establish a large body of contacts within the Championship and within Europe to look for talented youngsters at a bargain price but I somehow doubt it.
Still, he can make use of our extensive British and European scouting network which has turned up such gems as Madine, Flint and Glatzel recently.

Your question is a bit odd. Why would you think the poster is basing their comment solely on that article?
I'm sure, like me, they are talking about the whole aspect of the way the club has operated over recent times. The club IS a shambles!

Because bccb said he's questioned things since club sold toshack! and also says be prepared to be in for a long stint behind swansea ? both statements are odd dont you think?

Underwhelmed, but I have been concerned about the way CCFC is run since the day John Toshack was sold. Get set for a long stint in the shadow of SCFC

Hardly we are mid table in the championship and are almost certainly not going to be relegated. We have a decent squad of players who are underachieving at the moment but it's not impossible a new manager can turn things round. If you want shambles talk to fans of Bury Bolton Maccesfield Portsmouth or Sunderland.

Can’t see us taking any of them....not signicantly better than what we’ve got....and would again mean city looking at players in sides below us...
Wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t sign another player this season

This season feels like a dead rubber already so I'd go along with no signings in January and plan for next season even though theres 90 points to play for.

Yeah like when we were in the prem and we "built for the future" by buying Bacuna! We are not a very forward thinking club.
