The biggest management job available in British football

Fri Nov 15, 2019 3:36 pm

Surely this Cardiff job is the biggest currently available for a manager in British football
Probably one of the biggest in Europe currently as I cant think of many bigger other than Bayern Munich.

It would be very interesting to see how many applications we actually get for the position.

Surely we are very attractive team to want to manage.

Just down from the premier league, money to spend, a decent squad, good steady ownership, massive potential fan base.

I'm suprised at the names being mentioned because I think a lot bigger would fancy it

Not sure about having money to spend, if we are forced to pay the Sala fee it will hit a big hole in whatever transfer money we had. If we don't pay then we will be under a transfer embargo so no matter how much we have, we wont be able to spend anything. You also have the added problem that potential managers wont want to deal with Tan, and that could well be a stumbling block. I'd say we wont have big queue forming and we'll be looking at the cheaper options again.

Why would they not want to deal with Tan ?

He made available £80million last season to Warnock , over £15 million this season .

Hes a great owner

Murphy £11 million
Reid £10million
Sala £15million ( I know it's hard to include this one but it is money made available for transfers which is the point not money spent)
Cunningham £4 million
Smithies £4 million
Bacuna £4 million
Glatzel £5 million
Whyte £2 million
Vaulks £2.5 million
Madine £6 million
Vassell £1.5million
Flint £6 million
Pack £1.5 million
Tomlin £2.5 million
Bogle £1 million

Plus loan fees for Arter, Camarasa and Niasse which would not be cheap and it means Vincent Tan has made around £80 million available to his manager. That is a lot of money for a club out size. Even taking off sales it's probably still around £60 million. Then add on Agent fees and it shoots straight back up.

Tough act to follow.
Be interesting to research how Sir Neils former clubs have fared after his departure

To a point I agree, but perhaps the sala saga, has put some people off :?: I know some people are convinced a ban won't happen, but if I was a top name manager I would hesitate a little, due to the not knowing how tied their hands may be regards transfer ban (if it comes to that)unless the board and Vincent Tan can convince applicants, this will not be the case :?: who knows what goes on,behind the scenes :? :old: :bluebird:
