If we decided to play it on the floor in a modern style which players we have do you think could and couldn’t

Interesting a bet one or two will surprise us

Hope that long throw in gets binned it’s embarrassing

Flint as his distribution is shocking, possibly Peltier might struggle, but otherwise, I think we have plenty of players who could play it on the ground.

Plenty of players in our team are perfectly capable of passing the ball around. Which is what made it more frustrating under Warnock that we didnt do it. Might take a while before we see the changes as we have been playing long ball tactics for so long.

Pelts, Morrison and flint might struggle at the back but I am hoping for a Bamba and Nelson partnership after the break. Smithies is much more comfortable with the ball at his feet compared to Etheridge. I always thought the defence looked calmer with Smithies in goal knowing they could pass it back to him. Players like NML, Murphy, Tomlin and hoilett will benefit massively from it and Glatzel is much better with the ball at his feet than in the air - was the same with Zohore.

Might not matter under Harris anyway

Funnily enough I think most of our players would be fine but their are a few who were the spine of Warnock's team who I think would struggle massively

Neil Etheridge
Lee Peltier
Sean Morrison
Aden Flint (Did it at Bristol mind)
Callum Paterson (Maybe he'll be played at full back though)
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing

The rest I think could adapt, but who knows.

To think NML would struggle with the ball at his feet? Wow.

Warnocks tactics are just that.. tactics.. these are pro players who should be able to adapt or tbh not be pros

people talk about it as if players have been indoctrinated into the moonies..

our players have spent 95% or more of their football lives not playing get into the final 1/3 rd ASAP......as for our forwards / attacking players , once one of them has control of the ball our tactics became conventional..

Im sorry have we been watching the same player for 2-3 years? he's great at kicking the ball and chasing it but his passing is awful and he dribbles into touch half of the time which is why his main trait is kick and run. Either way you didn't disagree with the rest

Same flint who played for a Bristol side who passed it about? Hes ok and I'm sure he'll fo ok given chance he's certainly better than Morrison thats for sure ...

Morrison, Flint and Etheridge definitely vulnerable if our style changes. Definitely can't play the two of them as CHs together. Though I'm not sure that works defensively either.

Peltier been mentioned but Bacuna wouldn't be fancied either.

In the upside, Bennett may actually thrive. Murphy can't be any worse and Glatzel and Tomlin may benefit too.

Can't see a place for Madine which looks like one of the worst signings ever.

of all the players we have its Etheridge is the one that will benefit the most.. no more pressure to fly kick a back pass off his weaker foot. he might now have defenders spreading for a return pass. the cbs also to a lesser extent.. these players are not crap ,their previous clubs obviously rated them to play them .

he does do some pretty awful looking scud like kicks I agree.. but that was the tactic not choice...his stats show that his over all accuracy { hitting a Cardiff player } was better than smithies.

I'd be interested to know where the stats are that say Etheridge hits a cardiff player more often than smithies. He puts to ball out of play a fair proportion of the time and you can sense the grounds nerves when it goes back to Etheridges feet. Agree there may an advantage for him of defenders offering for a 20 yard pass but absolutely no way we can do that with Morrison and Flint.

They are all professional football players, so should be able to play in any 'style' asked of them. I think we give a dis-service to players , to play at this level you have to exceptionally fit and very gifted.
What anyone wants is effective football that gets results, how you get the result I couldnt give a monkeys.

whoscored…. Smithies not so many real stinkers but not very accurate either..
but same with them, a tap into touch or 5 yard ball was never an option. always the keeper no matter how poor the ball it was back to keeper.. some of these boys can do stuff other than what was asked of them..

Unfortunately we may not find out if our players do have more to offer in a different style afterall.
