From a friend of mine today :
I was very surprised to hear Harris was in the running at Cardiff. He is a solid but ultimately uninspired manager. He brought us back up from Div One quickly and we had one unexpectedly good year, but sold a key player and were struggling when he left. I don't know the real story behind his departure, but suspect he left before he was pushed, and is probably the sort of character who did not want to force them to fire him. He basically did quite well with very little money, but you always felt it was a slog. Our new man, three or four games in, has not changed much but has them playing more freely, more creatively, and I suspect this is the problem with Harris - solid, but lacks that real spark.
Despite my reservations about what I heard on his financial dealings, it was hard to criticise Warnock for what he achieved with a thin squad at Cardiff, and it was a surprise to see him fired. Unless the owners put more money in, you might struggle. Bowyer has less of a record than Harris, but looks to me like a more ambitious candidate - but another (from what was going on at Charlton) who might be picked because he has a fair record without much money to spend.
