TAKE THIS AS YOU WILL...

Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:31 am

Told this morning that City been talking to Mike Flynn in recent weeks (alluded to elsewhere on this Forum) and his appointment is a strong possibility

Also told that Craig Bellamy was originally pencilled in but recent events have affected the chances of that occurring

Right or wrong? Who knows right now; but it does make some sort of sense given recent posts on here and betting odds

Personally, I'd still give Bellers a shot until the end of the season; at least then we'd know if he could cut the mustard or not once and for all :thumbright:

What has Bellamy actually done to deserve a shot?

Nothing except go around Europe looking at how top managers work (highlighted previously on here) why has kompany employed him?
Ainsworth and others were not experienced but did ok might not be most fans choice but new ideas ect ect may work to our advantage given the players need a boost! He's not my 1st choice but looking at replies to Harris or flynn possible targets not going to please that many fans who ever we get..

I'm not a fan of Bellamy as a person and he really doesnt have the experience buttt neither did a fare few managers coming out of quality football.

Ide give him a bash and see how he does until the end of the season. Maybe he will attract a bit of quality

Done nothing with the youth other than make the club look silly with a bullying scandal. The guy is a self centred knob and I doubt the squad would warm to him to be honest.

Problem there Sven is if Bellamy cannot cut the mustard, our next manager could be having to try getting us promoted from Div 1 instead of the Championship. Always a gamble when a new manager is appointed, and no way of knowing which direction this club is heading at the minute. Warnock steadied the ship, gave us a bonus of a season at the top table, and hopefully the new bloke can make a bit of progress as well. Those of us who have been around for a while will have also experienced the down side of having to appoint a new manager, and I just hope we are at least able to maintain our Championship status as this sort of change has not always worked out to our advantage in the past.

Probably not but we wouldn't know about our youngsters as none were given opportunity at club! He seemed to think they were good e6 but not given chance... like u said not my 1st choice ..

thought they were good enough but did not push them on up the age groups...….?
more concerned with having an under 18s title on his CV..?

Did our Under 18's see any progression under Bellamy? Still no sign of any players breaking through and if there wasn't much progression (I never followed them, so unsure myself), then I don't see why he deserves the opportunity nor why his name is even floating about.

Bellamy would need longer than until the end of the season to turn our squad into the sort of footballers he would want

Re: TAKE THIS AS YOU WILL...

I really don't get the Bellamy one, doesn't come across as a very intelligent or decent person, consistently problematic at most clubs he has been at and obviously never stays very long at any club either for that reason no doubt. Totally disrespectful to Warnock even while employed at the club. Its usually all about him, personally don't see any quality's in him to be a manager at any level.

I keep reading he's a born winner but lets be honest for a player with so much potential he won very little.

Id rather Flynn but then those two are probably bottom of my list

I doubt he will ever make it as a Manager, and he just did an interview saying how happy he is at Anderelcht, will never happen, thankfully!

I take Bellers out of everyone in the betting.
I'd take Robbie Fowler as well and, Gary Neville

Bellamy caretaker until seasons end

One eye on other long term candidates during this time, which means we are not rushing.

I am confident he will surprise and win over all the over-judgemental Bellamy name callers who claim to know him. And all the negativity from his twenties and early thirties, well. there were lots of positives there too! Young, up and coming, fresh, looking to improve, attack minded, hugely vocal and motivational, very Welsh, learning his trade on the continent with a champions league outfit. Marmite just like Warnock but with a creative and attacking gene. Experienced no 2 by his side, lets see what he can do, and revisit closer to the summer. it will be a radical, exciting, daring, controversial temporary appointment, a chance I believe he will throw himself at. Millwall did it with Harris, Charlton with Bowyer, Derby with Lampard etc etc

I will get behind whoever takes over, but none of them in the betting excite me apart from CB.

Steve, I don't believe he would get us relegated and (for a short period to start) at least we'd know if he has what it needs to takes us forward once and for all... :ayatollah:

Flynn would not be in the running if he wasn't 15 miles down the road.

I get people not wanting Bellamy and that's fine its about opinions but I laugh when people say "He's failed with the academy" How has he? The under 18's were a joke before he came in, he got them in shape and won the under 18's league (funny when he left towards the end they're form dipped) and since going to Anderlecht under 21's they've won 5 of their 6 games I believe with 5-6 players being moved up to the senior side. Im not saying he'll be a success in management and I agree he comes across like a right d**k but don't knock what he did for our under 18's on the pitch last season whilst he was there and currently at Anderlecht.

People on here got habit of looking at person not what they've done? Very few managers get teams promotion it's about what they do with team? people complain about Harris but millwall were tem times better than city upto we played them... same as bellers his record is decent with a failing youth system at club! Now doing well at anderlecht at least we know hes got drive and will get players motivated, worth punt until end of season that's for sure...

I wonder if a Vincent Kompany / Bellamy double is on the cards ?

I couldn't support Mike Flynn. Personal reasons and in my opinion yes he does have baggage.

I was thinking about that the other day.

He was a pundit on the Liverpool ManCity match - but I felt it unusual for him being the choice of pundit (as in not really seen him as a pundit too often) - so wondered whether he was over here for any other reason?? 2 + 2 = 5 maybe !

I personally would like to see Company & Bellars.

I am sure he would only take it if he felt we were a short step to the Premier League.

I can't believe why anyone would even contemplate giving Bellamy a top managerial job at this stage, trouble follows him around, he was given an opportunity at his home town club and whats happened, all sorts of bullying allegations. He needs to prove himself as a reliable and responsible person, before he is even considered for management and I haven't seen any evidence of that.

he didn't even do as asked at the academy mate, chasing a CV title instead of pushing the better players. but people have this romantic idea of local boy does good / beats the odds in their heads... its not based on anything.

Big huge risk with flyn no contacts out of south wales bellers did give a holywood performance according to sources for the wales job
, but that was signed sealed and delivered to giggs on a plate so out of the 2 bellers, but i would prefer a foriegn manager with a different style and contacts

Re: TAKE THIS AS YOU WILL...

Tue Nov 12, 2019 8:55 pm

I also know Bellamy was stitched up with the Wales job! Gave a far better account of playing philosophy and development of the team than Giggs did but the FAW already had Giggs penned regardless!
If we want and Tan/Dalman want attacking, pressing from the front football similar to what Klopp employs then Bellamy would be a great fit.
