Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that manager Neil Warnock has left his position by mutual agreement and with immediate effect.


Monday 11th November 2019


Having joined the club in October 2016, Neil oversaw 144 matches and famously led us to promotion at the end of a fantastic 2017/18 season.

The Board will now begin the process of replacing Neil. An announcement to this effect will be made in due course.

Cardiff City FC Chairman, Mehmet Dalman said: “On behalf of Cardiff City Football Club, I thank Neil for his invaluable contribution to the future of this great Club.

“He not only gained promotion in his first season but played a pivotal role in uniting the fans and the club. I am personally upset by his departure and wish him the very best for the future.”

Executive Director & CEO, Ken Choo, added: “I’d like to thank Neil for his efforts over these past three years and indeed the immeasurable work he’s done to help us move forward. I’m sure Cardiff City fans will join me in sharing these sentiments, wishing him the very best for the future."



NEIL WARNOCK:


Neil Warnock added: “Today I am leaving my beloved Bluebirds after over three years of which have been some of the best days in my long football career. I would like to thank Vincent Tan and Ken Choo for their support; Victoria my secretary who has had to look after me over the years; Kevin Blackwell and Ronnie Jepson, my ever-faithful sidekicks and friends; and all the backroom staff on both the coaching and the medical sides who have worked tirelessly to help us achieve the success we have had. A special mention also to all of my players, past and present, who have given me everything. Thank you, you’re a great bunch.

“I would especially like to thank Mehmet Dalman whom I have said many times has been one of the best Chairman I have had the privilege to work for. His support has been immense, especially in 2019 which for many reasons both on and off the field has been the most challenging period both emotionally and physically that I have ever encountered.

“It is a shared belief that this is the right time for a new voice as we believe this squad of players is more than capable of getting success. Finally, I would like to thank all you supporters for getting behind me and the team. I hope you have all enjoyed the journey. I am proud to leave the club as a united one and long may you all achieve the success that you deserve. Be lucky.”

I think this is the right thing and glad this has happened at this point.

Thanks for the great memories Neil, but it was time to go.

One of the best managers we have had , all the best Neil , glad he didn't go with all fans calling for his head at a game didn't deserve that , gutted he's gone but think is best for everyone

I'm sad because of what the man has done for the club and the fanbase over the years but I stand by he should have gone end last season we have been poor the vast majority of games this season he could have been moved upstairs maybe but the club has a huge task now to appoint the right man jokanovic moore hughton more than capable in championship but let's see what happens

Either he has lost touch with modern football and couldn't keep up or he lost the dressing room.

I cant help feeling some of the players have downed tools because they do not like the style of play they have been asked to play.

We have the squad to compete in the top 6 easily

We need a young hungry manager with a big name now to change the philosophy at the club. Doesnt matter about experiance really just someone who wants to build.

My top 5 would be

Patrick Vieira
Craig Bellamy

Looking at the squad and style it is crying out for Sam Allardyce really

Of course it’s the right decision.

If there was a chance that he was going to be our manager for the next five years then no it wouldn’t be.

He’s not going to change things around this season so why stay?

Maybe a bit difficult due to the fact he's just started with Anderlecht, but I'd go all out for Bellers now!
He will play positive football, and I think he will get the best out of the players!
Need to bring Craig back, could see him doing a very good job!

People should not be blaming fans This as been on cards and now is right time as any new manager (not current assistants) need time and money to re asess players, I don't believe we are far off challenging for playoffs if we get in couple of defenders ... also does NW stay beyond 3 yrs at any club?

Hindsight is a wonderful thing I know but a new manager should have been brought in the summer
