MAJOR INJURY NEWS AHEAD OF BRISTOL CITY 'DERBY'

Cardiff City have major injury concerns ahead of Severnside Derby with Bristol City
By James Piercy

If Bristol City fans want to feel considerably better about the state of their squad heading into the 93rd Severnside Derby, they could do worse than glancing at the volume of absentees for the hosts.

Cardiff City may boast the second-best home record in the Championship - having won five and drawn two of their seven fixtures - but Neil Warnock is having to patch up three major areas of the field.

CARDIFF CITY :bluebird:

Captain and centre-back Sean Morrison was known to be out of Sunday's contest due to a broken wrist which will keep him out of action until the end of the month.

But the Bluebirds could also be without midfield engine Joe Ralls as the 26-year-old, who scored a hat-trick in last weekend's 4-2 win over Birmingham City, is a major doubt with a groin strain.

"Joe Ralls has struggled this week, so we’re not sure about him," Warnock said . "I won’t risk him if there’s any doubt. He’s been carrying this for six weeks now. It gives others an opportunities."

BRISTOL CITY;

That presents a similar scenario to the one Bristol City are dealing with in terms of injured captain Josh Brownhill who hasn't trained all week due to a back spasm suffered against Barnsley last Friday.

Without Brownhill, Lee Johnson's midfield options look decidedly thin but Cardiff have significant problems further up the field with forwards Isaac Vassell and Robert Glatzel injured and Danny Ward suspended.

Former City playmaker Lee Tomlin is another doubt due to a knock, although Warnock added: "He has trained. I’ve not heard anything this morning untoward, he’s trained, the last couple of days.

"He looked OK yesterday in training, we will just have to see."

Of Cardiff's 13 goalscorers in the Championship this season, six could be missing through injury and suspension including their two top scorers Ralls (5) and Ward (4).

Big blow if Ralls is out - A player in good form of late .

I’d never thought I’d be concerned that Ralls would be unable to play.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Bamba picked as a midfielder.

Shame, but hopefully tomlin will play and be up for it, i am more concerned about our fire power upfront or lack of it.
