They were screwing parents out of hundreds of £££s by having kids buy their kits for training days at local parks in and around Cardiff ect knowing full well that the kids were not good enough to get into the elite academy at the club... they are not only premier club to do it either call it exploitation of kids dreaming of stardom.

I think the point is that our academy doesn't seem to make talented players better.
I'd level the same criticism at Sir Neil. Who has he made better? He gets what he gets out of the Hoilets, Bennets, Ralls or Morrisons of the squad but who has he improved or made better? Not money future signings in Murphy or Reid for sure.
Labouring a point I've made before but not one single player Sir Neil has signed for a fee or for free has exited the club for any money. Not one.
The academy follows suit.

If that's right, it's disgraceful at any club!

Sven because they were a premier club they like other clubs set up so called training camps in neighbouring towns! As part of it the boys had to buy appropriate club kit so making money for club also pay to be coached by the relevant clubs staff! Best will in world if a kid was good enough he'd be picked up without going to a training camp thats for sure, so all the kids and parents dreaming of the money had no chance of little boris making it to the clubs elite academy because simply not good enough and never would be despite professional coaches, as you know talent is natural and it's those kids that go to the clubs not average boris's on splott park ..

No doubt we do but did we have training camps in Swansea? What happened to going to schools to look at talent like old days?

they look everywhere mate.. its not like we haven't found players down there.. Mark Harris is from Swansea and Adam Mathews from Gorseinon.. clubs do occasionally find players at these open day { trials } and boys from development centers do sometimes get drafted into the academy..

I think Im probably happiest when we have local lads playing for us, but sadly it doesn't happen enough. The Jacks and other teams seem to blood local lads and do so because they are good enough to take the pressure and prosper. Even Welsh players playing for the Bluebirds has always been one of my motivators, and again that has not been happening. So we are singing about ourselves with our Welsh/Cardiff terrace chants, not the team, the players don't get it, they aren't from here, no connection. In an old school way, I would love for all teams to have no choice but to pick local players in their match day squad, a bit like Real Sociedad's model. A pipe dream of course, its modern footballs branding that has seen a decline of this in all clubs.
I bet when we played Liverpool for example, back in the old days, it was a dressing room full of welsh accents and a dressing room full of Scouse. Matching the accents of the terraces. The fans supporting their own. Like in International football, I wish club football was more like that. A true indicator of who really are the best footballing towns or cities.
Was it a case of Bellamy thinking they were good enough and Warnock not? I'm on the fence, because given the chance, young rookies can blossom with better and more experienced players around them.

maybe we have the best 2 ?
thing is more than 90% of these boys who get capped at this level do not progress to get senior caps.
its not about having the best team at under 16s or 18s or whatever ,its about having the 1 or 2 players that really stand a chance.
