•Bristol City have won none of their last nine league visits to Cardiff (W0 D2 L7) since winning 2-0 in December 2002.

Cardiff City press conference live: Neil Warnock on Sean Morrison fitness and transfers ahead of Bristol City derby
By Glen Williams

The Bluebirds boss speaks ahead of the Severnside derby this Sunday

Cardiff City welcome Bristol City to the Welsh capital this Sunday for the Severnside derby.

The Robins have enjoyed a positive start to the season, however the Bluebirds' home form has been brilliant this term, which should make for an intriguing clash.

Manager Neil Warnock speaks to the media this morning and will likely address the fitness of captain Sean Morrison, who fractured his wrist against Swansea City and missed last weekend's win over Birmingham City.

He also faces something of a striker dilemma with Robert Glatzel and Isaac Vassell still expected to be injured and Danny Ward out due to suspension following his red card last weekend.

That means one of Omar Bogle, Gary Madine or even Callum Paterson could be handed a start up top this weekend.

Press Conference begins...

Neil Warnock gives an injury update

Morrison has seen the surgeon this morning regarding his fracture. I’ll know about that later. Other than that, little niggles, Gavin Whyte struggled last week, but he’s going to do a little bit. He’s going to want to go away with the internationals.

There’s nobody coming back that’s been out and will hopefully be ready after the break.

Neil Warnock on Joe Ralls

Joe Ralls has struggled this week, so we’re not sure about him. I won’t risk him if there’s any doubt. He’s been carrying this for six weeks now. It gives others an opportunities.

Neil Warnock on re-signing Armand Traore

"He’s only just to cover. He’s been with us six weeks and he’s just about got up to fitness. It’s only up until Christmas, it’s a short contract in case anything happens.

Fans know him, he’s got a very good left foot and loads of ability. His mind is not always in the best place but he has trained really hard in the time he has been with us.

It’s an appearance-based contract as well, so it’s up to him."

Neil Warnock on facing Bristol City this weekend

"It’s always special for me. I always get a loud welcome from their fans. Two very good fans and clubs. It’s a rivalry I’m looking to."

The latest on Isaac Vassell and Robert Glatzel

"Isaac, I think he is seeing somebody again on Monday. Robert, hopefully, will hopefully just be straight forward after the international break. His was just a small hamstring problem."

What Neil Warnock said on Gary Madine, Callum Paterson and Omar Bogle

"Yeah, definitely. They are in the squad. Omar (Bogle) has really done well in training.

I’m not too down at things (suspensions and injuries), between them all the strikers have got an opportunity in a great game, on TV it’ll be super, a great atmosphere. I’m looking forward to it."

Lee Tomlin injury update

"Yeah, he has trained. I’ve not heard anything this morning untoward, he’s trained, the last couple of days.

He looked OK yesterday in training, we will just have to see."

The boss on links to Ayr United's Luke McCowan

"Not that I’m aware of. I’m sure people are looking at certain players around the club, recruitment etc., but it’s not a name I’ve heard of."

Neil Warnock on Craig Bellamy's comments

"I think he was misled, really. He didn’t mention my name, even though you used it as a headline, he didn’t actually mention my name.

But if I had any youngsters good enough they would be in the team, that’s what I would say to him.

You tell me any youngster that’s left here and made a good living out of it or gone on to better things, I can’t think of any.

So it’s disappointing that there’s not many youngsters coming through.

He compared it with Belgium, with Anderlecht, but it’s no comparison with Belgian football. I’m disappointed that we haven’t (produced more).

But I remember the first time I met with Craig, I think James (McCarthy) was with him as well and we talked about the under 18s and I said to them that I wasn’t bothered about them winning.

I wanted them to be pushing them through to the first team, what their priorities should be.

I wanted the under 18s training with the under 23s etc., but it never happened. The under 18s won the league and I’ve not seen any development since.

Club has got to reassess the academy over the next couple of years."

Warnock on the full extent of Sean Morrison's injury

"He’d already done something with the other hand. It’s a complicated one, but they’ve spotted something else, I’m not sure the terminology. The international break, but I won’t know yet until I get back in.

I thought Curtis played ever so well last week but you want your captain involved."

Neil Warnock on the Severnside derby clash with Bristol City

"All the derbies are important. The atmosphere. We want the bragging rights. The lads have been really up for it this week.

I’ve been used to it (Bristol fans) for many years.

The atmosphere at the stadium is excellent. They are flying high and we are on TV as well.

You have to close your eyes and think where we have been in those three years, it’s quite remarkable.

There are some big clubs who would have swapped us for what we’ve done. 2019 has been the hardest for us, mentally and physically with the stuff we have had to cope with."
