Cardiff City re-sign full-back Armand Traore on short-term deal

The left-back has re-joined the Bluebirds on a short-term deal

Cardiff City have re-signed left-back Armand Traore on a short-term deal until January.

The former Senegal international, who last month turned 30, has been picked up on a free having been without a club following his short stint in Turkey with Caykur Rizespor this year.

Traore, who was on loan at the Welsh capital club during the last promotion season, has been training with the Bluebirds over the last six weeks and is understood to have been living with good friend Sol Bamba.

He appeared to effectively announce the move on his Instagram story on Thursday evening.

Neil Warnock has sought to bolster his options at left back after Greg Cunningham last month sustained a potentially season-ending injury.

Cunningham had a clause in his loan contract at Blackburn Rovers which would have allowed Cardiff to recall him after Christmas should they need to.

only for a backup for Joe Bennett, doubt he will get ahead of Joe in the first team

But a welcomed kick up the arse for him.

I like Joe, but this season he has switched off a number of times. Hopefully he will up his game a little

Get promoted and say he isn't good enough so sign another left back for 5m....following season send him out on loan and resign previous player.

Great signing always give 100% when played ;)

Why loan out Cunningham if we needed cover for Bennett?

We loaned him out with a call back option if Joe got injured.

Now Cunningham is injured himself we needed the cover

He needs to because he hasn't been anywhere near his best this year and definitely needs a kick up the backside

We still have Jazz,Connelly and young Brown on our books who have all played left back for us and yet Warnock is still allowed to bring one of his mates as cover! Our payroll for players seating in the stands must be enormous?

Why though :banghead:

Free signing, no other cover as NW won’t go for the U23’s

Fair point, forgot that Cunningham got injured :thumbright:

I'd like to retract my previous statement and say this is a good move

He loves the club, is good mates with some of the boys and didn’t put a foot wrong in his last spell. A good signing

Neil bringing in boys who would die for him is what got us promoted

This is a good signing
He is a championship quality player in a position we need and is free.

Cant really see any downside other than it stops a youngster like Brown getting a opportunity, but if Bennett got injured and Brown replaced him playing poorly then people would moan we did not get proper cover

Has he been injured too!

According to wiki he hasn't played a game since he left us and is a reserve team player for a side in Turkey I've never heard of.

If he is top end of the championship I'd be amazed. Play a youngster if it comes to it. Sir Neils fullback recruitment is as bonkers as his striker recruitment only in reverse. Weve needed a quality fullback since Mcnaugton left and Manga should have been playing as a CH. Play the youngster.

Hopefully, this will enable Brown to get loaned out to get more valuable experience.

If we start approaching the end of the season languishing in mid table with nothing to play for, I would like to see Brown and Cox start some games. Even if they both make mistakes giving goals away starting off, I would give them both a run so they can keep learning with experience and hopefully develop into good first team players for us.

Ajayi is now a good centre back for West Brom, we could have done with him now with his pace and athleticism to partner Morrison or Flint. He would have been a suitable replacement for Manga.

I'm very happy with us bringing Traore back though, he's proven to be a good character who will help create a more positive atmosphere in the dressing room. He's been training with us for the past few weeks apparently, so if Warnock still thinks he can offer us something on the pitch as well, it's a no brainer with Cunningham injured.

Connolly is absolute shit, Jazz is always injured but I would like to see Brown given a chance and Ralls/Bacuna could cover as well

Connelly is long term injured. Traore is very experienced at championship level and ideal cover for Joe. Jazz is a RB and is just coming back and will be cover for Pelts.

It’s a pay as you play contract for Traore so it’s a no brainer in my opinion. He didn’t put a foot wrong the last time we had him.
