CHELSEA TO SPLASH CASH?

Chelsea are looking to splash £150m on Wilfried Zaha, Ben Chilwell and Timo Werner in January if their transfer ban is lifted.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport will hear Chelsea's appeal against their two-window suspension on November 20.

There you go. They have a transfer ban in place and CAS can only overturn if they win that appeal, not before.

In the meantime, sanctions remain as handed by FIFA. So unless Tan pays Nantes, this transfer embargo will be imposed regardless of any appeal process. Only then winning it will reverse that sanction.

If an appeal is in progress Fifa cannot enforce any verdict!

Yes they can as it’s an external appeal.

If you get sentenced to prison then that sentence is carried out. An appeal will reverse that if won, but sanctions until then remain and are enforced.

Chelsea are already under a transfer embargo and were during the summer window.

Chelsea didn't appeal 1st window ban it's the 2nd window ban they are appealing... they accepted they were guilty of offence they appealed the length of ban not the ban itself! In citys case they will appeal fifa instructions to pay nantes, so if city appeals fifa would in all likelyhood delay any sanctions until after CAS appeal
If city pay nante before appeal what happens if city win? nante would have to pay it back ? That makes a lot of sense

Yep they would pay it back and further payments would not be made.

Appeals to CAS do not delay FIFA sanctions, it’s an external process not an internal one. Do you reckon if this appeal drags on to Feb then that means in Jan Chelsea can sign players again because the second embargo can’t be applied due to them appealing?

id have thought it was either or...pay or appeal .
but yes I suppose we could ask FIFA if we could pay the first instalment as a good will gesture providing we get it back should we win on appeal ..
don't see much issue then with Nantes paying it back if its agreed..
