Throw ins.

What a joy not having to see constant long throws. These should be kept to a minimum when we are chasing a game in the last quarter. When we have a short throw in we have possession of the ball. Constant long throws means we surrender the ball to a 50/50 situation. So much better yesterday. Thoughts?

Good about throw ins but shame still using same tactics for corners and free kick into area always far post ! 2nd goal we put ball on penalty spot and led to goal not rocket science to know better to be near goal than away from goal at far post where we rarely do anything worthwhile .

Agree Brezza. Refreshing. Shame Morrison didn't injure both arms some time ago.

Yes I been saying this for a couple of seasons and the other thing which annoys me is the kicking from Etheridge , I am sure if they looked at the stats from his kicks we lose the ball 90% of the time .

I think they have their use, particularly in the lower leagues. It used to be a good weapon for us a while back. Andy Legg's long throws ending up in the back of the net via the head of Fortune-West. I think Championship defenders are too switched on to be regularly beaten by these sort of tactics.

High percentage of any kick from keepers go to opposition but Etheridge is poor at kicking and that doesnt help.

What pisses me off with our throwings is that we slow it down and never take it quickly ,also why dont we pass it back to the thrower ?

I say this every game. Flint, Morrison and Glatzel are all well over 6ft, the ball should be put on the pen spot/6 yard box every time. Yet we always go deep at the back post to flint where the ball is either poor and no where near him or he has two defenders on him- both cases the ball doesn't come back across the goal mouth.

Every tactic has its place; but has to be delivered to the right players in the right area

Currently, we appear not to be doing that , so a bit of a waste :(

When you do the same thing over and over again is it still a tactic?

Or just stupid?

Some variation so the opposition do not know what to expect is very effective.

And the slowing it all down especially with Morrisons routine is painful to watch so refreshingly missed against Birmingham.

And yes, should be able to go backwards to go forwards occasionally.
