Etheridge

Sat Nov 02, 2019 10:32 pm

Personally I did not think he deserved his place back as Smithies was playing well. In saying that I don't think there is much between the pair.

What I would say if smithies has conceded these two goals today I think people would have questioned him. Plenty saying Smithies gets beaten from distance to often and the first no man's land for me.

I wouldn't have dropped Smithies either but they are extremely close in overall ability. I suppose its a good thing that we have 2 decent keepers competing against each other

Yesterdays goals 1st one he was totally in wrong position no idea wh he was that side goal with ball to far away for him to get it? 2nd goal he was blaming defending for not going out to player (which was correct) but did he see ball that is the question? Judging by him standing still guess he didnt so benefit of the doubt? But his kicking leaves lot to be desired still.. personally would left smithies in but not lot between them. :old:

Tend to agree.

I do think if Smithies had conceded the goals like Etheridge there would have been a lot more threads on him.

People look at Etheridge with blue tinted glasses on because he had 1 good season. The reality is he is a very limited goalkeeper and is championship standard. His saves for the cameras are brilliant to watch though.
Smithies is the better all round keeper in my opinion but Etheridge is capable at this level.

Definitely fans be on smithies back but then don't think smithies would have been in no mans man's land for 1st! Also noticed on both goals he was pointing finger at defenders maybe got point for 2nd for not closing down but ball wasn't far from him when went in! but 1st one totally his fault .

Yeah tend to agree with that, first goal was poor.

2nd one could have done better, players could have closed down better, it happens.

I thought despite a few great reactionary saves against West Brom, he could have done a lot better.

I think Warnock would have thought the same hence the switch after that game.

Again beaten from distance today. His kicking is more than poor, hes lucky to get any distance on it nevermind trying to find a player.

Re: Etheridge

Wouldn't have dropped smithies think hes a better keeper all round and he can kick which is a added bonus

Re: Etheridge

No clean sheets with Etheridge in goals this season.

Re: Etheridge

Its only a matter of time before we concede from his mid kick.

It's not the back 4 , he is just not as good as people believe, he should have stopped that shot it was poor keeping

Have you tried saving those balls at that pace? Move around all time! More blame on defence not stopping the shot....But still dont like his distribution poor ar times

So how come when Smithies conceded from long range it was his fault, when Etheridge dies it it's the defence in front of him ?

You are tight it was shocking defending but he should be saving that regardless

I don't think his positioning helped.
