Hat-trick hero Joe Ralls spoke exclusively to Cardiff City TV following a terrific performance in the Bluebirds’ 4-2 victory over Birmingham City.

City’s battling spirit was on full display at a rain-soaked CCS, as they competed for the majority of the second half with ten men. Rallsy began by giving full credit to his teammates for their spirited performance.

“We needed a response today against a good side,” he began. “It was tough at times; we really had to dig in but I thought the boys put in a really good performance today and showed the fans what we’re all about again. That one was for them.”

It was the Bluebirds’ first hat-trick since Peter Whittingham netted three against Wolves in September 2012, and City’s number eight was certainly pleased with the achievement.

“To get three goals is amazing,” he continued. “I’m over the moon with that.



“We had to dig in with ten men at times and the boys did that. We defended our box superbly. It was exactly what we needed at this time of the season – we’ve got to build on it now and kick on.

“[Next weekend’s Severnside Derby] is another big game,” concluded Rallsy. “They keep coming!

“We’ve set our standards now and we’ve got to keep to that for the rest of the season. As I said, the crowd were amazing today. That support is brilliant and helps us through the tough times.”
